Sole Survivor is Mathematically Useless

Sole Survivor

Each time a Survivor other than yourself is killed or sacrificed, Sole Survivor gains 1 Token, up to a maximum of 3 Tokens.

Each token grants a stack-able radius of 20/22/24m within which the Killer is unable to read your Aura, up to a maximum of 60/66/72m

List of Aura Reading Perks Commonly Used

  • Barbecue & Chili
  • A Nurse's Calling
  • Nemesis

Lets break down the 3 most common perks that provide aura reading.

Barbecue & Chili

This perk reveals survivors who are farther than 40m. Therefore, the only time that Sole Survivor will hide your aura from BBQ is when two survivors are already dead, and you are standing EXACTLY 40-48m away from the hook. Even if the survivor was on their last hook, you would only have 2 Tokens, and need to be within that 8m window to hide your aura.

Nemesis

This perk reveals survivors who have stunned the killer. Therefore, you have to be within line of sight of the killer, and within 2m of the killer. Even if Sole Survivor hid your aura, the killer can see you, your scratch marks, and most likely hear your breathing/footsteps. Sole Survivor is effectively useless against Nemesis.

A Nurse's Calling

This perk reveals survivors who are healing within 28m. Therefore, only one survivor needs to be killed or sacrificed for Sole Survivor to counter A Nurse's Calling. Sole Survivor is effective against A Nurse's Calling--assuming you're not the first one hooked, and are using self-care or a medkit (because your teammates aura is not hidden by Sole Survivor).

Conclusion

For a perk that requires multiple uncontrollable conditions be met, and has zero value until the mid/late-game, the value it does provide is too few and too insignificant against even the most popular of perk choices.

Comments

  • It’s really for it’s current synergy with current OoO, and to combat aura reading add ons, particularly Wraith, Myers, and Pig.

That said, it can be great against I’m All Ears with Dance With Me.

  • I agree though that it needs serious work done to it though.

I wouldn’t want a complete rework though. I’d like it to remain as an aura blocking perk.
