Are you supposed to be able to hit through pallets?

If a killer hits a survivor as they get stunned by a pallet is that hit supposed to count? Logically it seems like you couldn't hit someone as you get stunned by a pallet or a pallet shouldn't be dropped if you get a hit. Is this how the game is supposed to work or is it purely a server/latency issue?

  • If they are pretty much on top of you as you drop it than yes it should hit but if they are on or near the other side it shouldn’t connect

  • *LAUGHS MANIACALLY IN LATENCY*

Depend if the pallet is already drop he should not hit you with a m1 attack. If you drop the pallet it will be different because of latency and ping dont forget what you see the killer dont see the same thing maybe he see you when you are 0,5 second behind that can make a huge difference in a hit or miss scenario. You can blame dbd server for that they are #########

Well that's what I mean. Is it only a latency issue or is that actually supposed to happen according to the game mechanics?

  • You can test the "supposed hit through pallets" via the tutorial.

The tutorial Meg drops the pallet at a 0 ping so try to hit her through the pallet drop animation by swinging whilst going around the rock.

The hit will actually connect despite the 0 ping if you time the hit correctly.

Conclusion: Hitting through the pallet is intended but may look fishy when even the tiniest bit of latency comes into play.

  • Most of the time it's latency

There is if I'm not mistaken a small delay between a pallet being dropped and the killer being stunned

And the killers attack works that it shoots out a small cone in front of it when they attack. If the cone already is out in that small timeframe between pallet drop and stun you can get the hit and stun at the same time.

Atleast that's how i think it works

Wow. Thank you so much for answering my question in such detail.

  • If the attack hits and the pallet drops at the same time, I don't see why they both shouldn't be able to count.

Latency just widens the window in which both can be "at the same time", at some point, it becomes too wide to be 'fair' but there's not a discrete value you can give it.

I guess to me it doesn't really make sense that you can hit under a pallet as it's dropping while you are getting stunned. The game treats it as you getting a hit and then getting stunned which doesn't make sense because if the hit happened first how could your downed body drop a pallet?

    You drop the pallet.

Then you get hit as the pallet is falling.

Then the pallet stuns the killer.

Makes perfect sense to me as killer's hits aren't instant too, so why would pallet stuns be.

  • The killer's attack is basically a hitscan laser that shoots out once they reach a certain point in the animation so it just looks weird when Myers gets stunned halfway through a swing and still hits you.
