How to fix camping without punishing anyone.

The most common "solution" people like to give is for the other survivors to do gens while one guy is camped. What they don't think about is the hooked guy. They have NO incentive to just sit there and be camp fodder. Absolutely none. Most of the time, they kill themselves on hook because they're getting nothing out of it. And I can't blame them. Why should they care?

As for the "fix", I say that the hooked guy should get distraction points for every 3ish seconds the killer is in X meters of them and NOT in a chase. This makes it so that they won't be rewarded if other survivors are running around the hook. And obviously don't give them an absurd amount of points. Just enough to incentivize not DCing. Another option would be to give them distraction points for every gen that gets done while they're on a hook.

Just do something to make the camped guy want to stay in the game. Currently, the best option for you, if you're being camped, is to just die and look for a (hopefully) better match.

Edit: Just wanted to add also that when someone is running camaraderie and they're on a hook, their teammates should get a HUD notification for it.

  • This is really a good idea... Being camped wouldn't be so bad because you get points....

Exactly. You'd actually have a good reason to stay and help your team instead of dying.

  • That wouldn't stop me from suiciding on hook. Who cares about point anyway apart from new players that need to level up their characters.

  • I've said same before, had people complain about someone on a hook getting points. I think rewarding the hooked player will encourage less hook suicides when camped.
