Why does grass cover up scratchmarks so well?

On both old and new maps, half of the time I feel like I struggle to see scratchmarks through grass, making me lose downs/hooks, like where did this Nea go? I could barely see the scratchmarks leading off into the open at all

    Well, think about it. Grass bends, it's not going to really get scratched up like dirt or rock or other more solid stuff.
