Why do red glyphs exist ?

I get the feeling this was basically a reskinning of the pustula flower but I don't understand why it had to be done.

I mean, it's a most likely single challenge per tome level which will be done in 1 trial every time. Kind of pointless to design even a reskin of old feature for something so small when all challenges are also just copies of previous ones.

Isn't there something better to spend budget on, something more permanent or like I don't know. Properly put together UI or anything really.

    Because they know that without SOME sort of interaction with tome challenges, most people wont bother to try and do it all.
