What in the matchmaking would cause this to happen?
This was played at 8:00 PM PST and I was not in a SWF...
I've had really similar matches but like why would it think this was a good match? There are definitely enough players right now to not have this happen lol

a SWF and a long wait time for a match where it opens up the window. rank 10 is matched normally with rank 4 to 16. so it's not much of a stretch to get the 17-20 ranks if in a swf, and the rank 1 probably a solo that has waited a while for a match but again not too hard to see that 3 ranks would put them in the rank window for matching.
Years of awful matchmaking logic and general apathy toward fixing it is what causes this to happen. There is just no scenario where this should happen. None whatsoever.
Per Steamcharts (https://steamcharts.com/app/381210), there are currently more than 24,000 players in-game. It is the #21 game on Steam. That's just Steam. There's also the Windows Store, and all the various console ecosystems. Cross-platform play was supposed to solve these kinds of problems, and it seems to have just gotten worse.
My guess is that they are testing the new mmr system.
It's been like this for a few weeks now, so that's my best bet
It really sucks had the same myself last match got matched with 3 rank 20's and a rank 20 killer. I'm devotion 12 so this should never happen.
At least you managed to power through and get plenty of bp and a pip.

thought as much, i wish we knew more how the match making works than a very vague "IF you are waiting a long time the game starts opening up the matching window to find you a game asap" to "If you are waiting 5 minutes the game opens up another + or - 1 rank and every X minutes after it will happen again." :)
