Traps onto items on the ground

I spotted a trap, went to disarm it got right next to it and clicked to disarm but instead picked up a flashlight I didn't see and still activated the trap.

Is it some kind of bug ? I haven't checked but what if you put a very small object like a key and place a trap onto it, you couldn't disarm the trap ?

    You'll have to be more careful next time. You have to wait until your character comes to a complete stop, and the desired prompt appears. I think that's how people get caught in exit gate traps too, because it auto aims/teleports you to opening the door and then you get trapped.
