Things I would like to be added, changed and/or fixed in DbD
An almost 3.4k hrs player (since 09.2018) shares her ideas for the game which came into her mind. Importance is not necessarily in that order. Some of these things might have been addressed in a Q&A already.
- Search function for perks. Make it possible to search for perks
- in alphabetical order
- by release (= general perks, then base game, then chapter 1 etc.)
- by rarity
- Show the Killer's ping in the lobby and during the match after pressing ESC. Even with hit validation I would like to know if I need to pre-vault windows and pre-drop pallets. With p2p you always knew the Killer's ping btw and could prepare for it.
- Show the Server's location I'm currently playing on. I would like to know if the bad connection is on my side or if I was just connected to a server far away.
- A wardrobe in the shop and in the archives' preview, so I could try different cosmetics at once and not just one piece with my current outfit.
- An in-game workshop for all the artists of us out there who do customized icons. It would be a lot easier to find something you like and to implement as well for a lot of other UI related stuff.
- A quick switch to the other role while staying in your current lobby if you just want to spend points.
- A little icon which you can choose to display next to your name what your playstyle is or what you often do. f.e. a Totem icon could mean that you do a lot totems and destroy NOED before it exists. Entity claws could indicate that you like Obsession perks or that you like to get chased etc.
- More detailed settings. Especially graphics.
- Seperate Keybinds
- For Killer and Survivor. If I f.e. keybind Q and E on Killer to “turn left” and “turn right”, I want to keep “Active Ability” for Survivor on E and not going in circles using it. Keybinds are the same on Survivor and Killer right now.
- For different Perks. I for myself are a lot more comfortable using Dead Hard on M4 but I'm totally OK with “For The People” being on E.
- Free use of every original DLC Killer/Survivor for 3 matches to try out their power and/or perks before having to decide buying the chapter. I personally liked to try the Killers with Splinters a few times, before I decided to buy the DLC. I can imagine that some people would consider buying DLCs if they could at least test it.
- Killer emotes like the Hunter emotes in Deathgarden. I liked them. Imagine being a Survivor on the ground and Deathslinger just makes the “slit your throat” motion before mori'ing you.
- More Survivor emotes. Or make it possible to ping something you see f.e. a Totem, item, gen etc.
- An advanced Tutorial to f.e. show different types of Status Effects, props like Totems, clocks or Jigsaw Boxes and what they do. New players don't often know what to do with it.
- A Flashlight Add-on rework. Most of the add-ons do basically nothing at all.
- A Key overhaul, so they are no longer as oppressive as they are right now. An escape via Hatch & Key should be something special, and not due to Plunderer's Instinct or because they brought it with them.
- A Mori overhaul, so they are no longer as oppressive as they are right now. A tunnel Mori is no fun at all and should not be possible. Otzdarva mentioned, that he would rework Moris in a way, so that everyone needs to be hooked at least once for it (green and pink Mori). I like that idea.
- Offering rework. Some of these are barely used (fog, luck, oak) or are not worth their price (brown BP Offerings).
- New Ultra Rare Offerings on both sides to make the Achievement possible to get without using an Ebony Mori or play Killer at all. This is a problem since the removal of the Moon Bouquets.
- A possibility to reforge unwanted Items/Add-ons/Offerings into those you want. I got f.e. over 180 Boyfriend's Memos on Myers but only 3 J. Myers Memorials.
- A working MMR system so I can learn other Killers as well without getting stomped and laughed at all the time on Red Ranks or being forced to use a smurf account for that.
- Adept Achievements
- Killer should be a bit easier, since it gets ridiculously more difficult the higher your rank is and forces you to be literally perfect in everything. I would say a 4k and a pip would be sufficient. Mori Offerings should not be allowed with this.
- Survivor should be a bit harder, since you can do nothing and still get hatch and escape to get it. I think escaping and pipping would be sufficient. Keys should not be allowed with this either to make it fair with the Killer not being allowed to use a Mori with it.
- A minimum distance between the Exit Gates. If you are the last survivor on Azarov's Resting Place and both doors are on the same side, you have no chance, not even against a non-mobile Killer like Bubba or Myers. And don't imagine this against Spirit, Nurse, Oni or Billy. Also put more LOS blockers between them, so the killer can't just stay in the middle (on a hill) and watch both.
- Hatch spawn locations on the Swamp maps. Sometimes you miss the hatch because it's right at the wall. This is unique to those maps and should be adjusted to match with the rest.
- Some breakable walls need to be looked at. There are some of them which are a “must break” because the window next to it is ridiculously strong. f.e. the window at the stairs at the saloon, the Groaning Storehouse, the catwalk window in Ironworks of Misery etc. You often have no time to break these first, since gen speed is really fast.
- Some Totem spots need to be fixed. No spot should be completely in the open like on Coldwind Farm or Crotus Prenn, but they also should not be too difficult to find. Standard map tiles have well known spots but they are at least kinda hidden. They could be improved a bit though.
- Survivor sided spots: Crotus Prenn, Coldwind Farm, MacMillan, Autoheaven, Haddonfield
- Balanced spots: Red Forest, Ormond, Badham, The Game, Yamaoka, Swamp
- Killer sided spots: Léry's, Saloon, Midwich, Hawkins
- Perk fixes/changes for
- Object of Obsession: makes it really difficult for some Killers to even use their power (Hag, Trapper, Demogorgon) or lessens their ability to chase that specific survivor (Freddy and partial The Twins). This perk is also very oppressive with SWF. There are some really good ideas for that out there.
- Decisive Strike: should be deactivated after the Killer hooked someone else and you are not in the dying state, so the Killer can't just smack you down, quickly chase the other Survivor and hook him and immediately rehook you before someone can pick you up. If you are in dying or injured state, DS should still have the standard 60s timer. The timer should stop after being fully healed. I'm not sure I would include lockers with this as long lockers are the only way to trigger DS safely against a tunnel-mori happy Killer. If that is no longer a threat, DS should deactivate on getting into a locker too. Other grabs should still activate it. I'm not sure it should deactivate when EGC starts though.
- WGLF: Add showing the Killer's Aura for 4s after the unhook. Alternatively the Aura of other Survivors or of Gens.
- 3rd Seal: I would like to experiment with also adding Jigsaw Boxes, clocks and notification bubbles to the Blindness Effect to make it a bit better in some aspects. This needs to be tested a lot since it could make Pig and Freddy broken.
- Unnerving Presence, Huntress Lullaby, Spine Chill: experiment with these perks also affecting Jigsaw Boxes, Portals, Cages, Snap out of it and DS Skillchecks
- Spine Chill, Resilience: experiment with these perks also affecting Jigsaw Boxes, Snap out of it, Portals and mending
- Distortion: More tokens.
- Mettle of Men: Also give tokens for pallet/flashlight saves and maybe if you unhooked a person safely+ healed them fully after. The perk was nerfed shortly after it came out which was understandable, but now it is too difficult to get the perk activated even ONCE for little reward. It should also guard you from the Exposed status or insta-down abilities like the chainsaw, Iri Head or Blood Fury.
- 2nd Wind: Changing the requirements from “the equivalent of a health state” to “healing up another Survivor one health state”. This way healing together or completing the heal on someone else will activate the perk and make it more accessible. It still can only be activated twice and still needs about 30s to heal you.
- A Nurse's Calling: include mending into the Aura reading
- Remember Me: Give it 6 tokens max and make it 5s per token again. Let it only activate AFTER all gens are done to remove the problem that the last survivor would need ages for the gate after the hatch is closed. It was a decent perk but sadly was forgotten after it got nerfed to the ground due to EGC.
- Dying Light: Include the Obsession in the debuff but leave the 33% altruism speed be. This way the Obsession is encouraged to be altruistic instead of doing gens, which is the problem with this perk at the moment. You can't get tokens from the Obsession but also want to have him off the gens because of the debuff not affecting him. The tokens should not vanish after killing the Obsession (like with STBFL).
- NOED: It should not reward bad players, but good players who distributed the damage well, but could not finish the game before all gens were done. Otzdarva had an interesting idea with a token system for this. Only activates after ALL gens are done.
- Stridor: Shouldn't work with Spirit's Phase Walk. It is bad enough if you don't use Iron Will to counter Spirit. How to fix this? Spirit can't hear injured sounds while phasewalking, but normal breathing. (I like Spirit, btw, but being so vulnerable after getting hit is the real problem with her imo.)
- Iron Will: Should only negate the injured sounds, and not make you completely quiet. You should be able to hear normal breathing sounds as a Killer. This way it would still be a strong perk, but makes it easier for Spirit to hear you since I'd like to take away her ability to hear injured sounds while phasing.
- Monstrous Shrine: Tweak the numbers so this perk actually does something.
- Fix Oblivious
- vs. Object of Obsession. Oblivious is designed to make it easier to sneak up upon Survivors, not to make them able to see you through walls at a close distance. Main issues are with Freddy, Nemesis and the Twins when Viktor sits on the Object's head. Fix: Give Object a minimum distance (f.e. 12m) so that neither Survivor (while being Oblivious) nor Killer (while being Undetectable) can use it to their advantage at close range.
- vs. Borrowed Time. BT is designed to help the unhooked Survivor to get away if the Killer is close or camping. Being Oblivious makes this impossible and is a major issue some people have with Freddy. Fix: Make BT dependent on the hooked survivor. If he/she hears the heartbeat, and gets unhooked with BT, he/she gets it.
- FPS issues and general performance, especially for Consoles and older systems (same as above :P)
- Bugs (not added, FIXED of course XD)
- Colorblind support.
- Make it clear and consistent if percentages from Perks/Add-ons/Offerings are additive or multiplicative. Example: Slippery Meat is additive, Monstrous Shrine is multiplicative (as far as I know) regarding the probability to escape from the hook.
- Make it clear in which order stuff is added from perks and/or add-ons and make it consistent. Example: Doctor with Distressing, Calm – Carter's Notes and Calm – Class II. How large is the TR when his Ability is ready?
- a) Perks first. [32m(TR)*1.26(+26% Distressing)]+8m(Calm CN)+6m(Calm CII)=54.32m
- b) Add-ons first. [32m(TR)+8m(Calm CN)+6m(Calm CII)]*1.26(+26% Distressing)=57.96m
- Emblem points for getting (face) camped. Similar to getting Lightbringer points while getting chased. If a Killer stays in a 16m radius around the hook, while there is no other Survivor in this area, he gets negative Chaser points. So why not give the hooked person some Emblem points in Lightbringer (if gens are repaired) or Benevolent (if someone else is saved or healed) during that time. This way the camped person has the chance to get a black pip and may discourage from killing themselves instantly on the hook.
- A totem counter, so I know if I have to worry about NOED or not. It would help soloq as well. The NOED icon should tell the killer as well how many Dull Totems are still left in the game.
This is all I could think of at the moment. Most likely there is a lot more I would like to be different, but I simply forgot. I would like to hear what you would like to change in DbD.
Stay healthy and have a nice day :)
