losing pip because my teammates disconnect?

So i just went in a game, started doing a gen and one of my teammate disconnects 10 seconds later the second and 5 seconds later the third so the match gets cancelled... but I'm the one losing a pip? How does this work and why does it work like this, why do I get punished for having mates that dc?

    If the match really got cancelled, check again when you get back to the lobby if you truly lost that pip.

    Sometimes it bugs out and just shows you losing it in after-game screen but you still have it in the lobby.
