I transferred and upgraded my game to the series X, and now when I play I can’t tell who’s on Xbox anymore, everybody has a globe by their gamer tag. For a few days I thought I wasn’t able to play Xbox players anymore. Just found out that I could’ve been playing Xbox players not even realizing it. And when I turn cross play off, I never get anyone in the lobby with me.

As this is a next generation console, it's automatically registering it as different architecture than the xbox one - as the series x is not currently widespread this is why crossplay is highly recommended to be switched on right now, as the amount of players on this platform naturally increases with sales, then it won't become so important in the future.
