Quick question about cosmetics on licensed charecters which alter them
So when it comes to licensed cosmetics - permission from the license holder has to be obtained in order to release and sell things related to the medium
Ie if a cosmetic of Myers was released, it would have to be permitted by the license holder. Makes sense. And any new content also has to go through the license holder.
However. Dead by daylight/behaviour, holds the licensing to the actual gameplay/way a character plays within the game. Ie if we were to completely take away Myers and replace him with a some other killer, and simply have the stalking/mechanics of his playstyle (because thats gameplay, not the actual killer) - it's also why charecters can share things, because all gameplay whether it's as simple as hooking or as in-depth as a stalk or gen-teleport mechanic is owned by behaviour correct?
So is there anything "legally" stopping the Devs, under already released killers, from releasing legendary skins, that remake entire killers from the ground up as something new and original, only keeping the gameplay mechanics of a prexisting killer/survivor, and using that slot to offer up a completely original killer.
I'm not talking things like the blighted ghostface. That is a clear example of behaviour and the license holders collaberating on the release of a skin, based upon a prexisting license.
I'm talking more "theoretically" is there anything license wise, stopping the Devs from say making a skin of a giant duck, that simply replaces the Myers or any other licensed killer in the game. Ie something that has no relation to the original license, and simply overlays the existing game mechanics that exist.
Theres nothing stopping them from essentially copy pasting powers from prexisting killers etc onto a new killer, calling it something different and shipping it out. Because they own the game mechanics. But would there be anything stopping them from making their own original reskins of prexisting content, acting as legendary skins, which change names and icons and allow for prexisting content to get completely original content attached to it, at the loss of well, any connection to the prexisting license.

Theoretically yes, infact that’s what Behaviour does now except the Killer’s power is slightly different e.g. Billy and LeatherFace. They can’t create whacky skins for LeatherFace (unless they discuss it with the license holder) so they give it to Billy instead.
I would assume there is probably a paragraph in the license about the characters having their own separate power that isn't, and won't be shared with another character, it would probably be some sort of "Unique Clause" that would indicate that the character would be unique and not share anything with other killers.
