How come Blight has 6 fingers on his left hand?

It's kinda strange how they gave him that unique detail without giving any explanation about this deformation. Was this caused by the mutation or was it a birth defect? It doesn't seem like his right hand has an extra digit.

Its probably a mutation that allows him to bounce of the walls easier or to hold his stick better.
