i spent five minutes in an empty map
EDIT: just like i thought, i was misinformed and it basically renders my whole post as stupid. i wasn't aware that dcing as killer would count as an escape for survivors since the only scoreboards i saw were from older versions. turns out, the survivors were just extremely immersed and held the game for five minutes until i dc'd.
maybe this is just the fact that i was misinformed, since i rarely dc during games but here's an interesting story that happened just now:
so i was playing freddy hoping for a casual game, and for the most part it went well (aside from my computer lagging every now and then). around after the second kill (when a nea decided that enough was enough and gave up on hook) i had started my search for other survivors. it was fairly quiet, and i kept running around to the generators left (as they had gotten two done, and i was waiting for another notification to know where to go) but i found that i couldn't spot any survivors.
i thought that maybe it was just my poor tracking skills, so i kept searching around the map and eventually found my way upstairs (we were on the meat plant). i was in a call with a friend and we were joking around saying maybe they were extremely immersed, but after five whole minutes i still couldn't find anyone. i thought maybe i'd get a crow notification or something, thinking maybe they were both afk or one of them was just in a locker but that didn't happen either.
at this point, i was very annoyed and bored so i decided that i should dc (since the others were console players and there was no way to start endgame collapse or finish the game myself). after i dc, i find that it says the other two survivors escaped. this struck me as odd since the whole time i was in the match i didn't get ANY gen or crow notifications.

i don't know if the fact that they escape after dc was intentional or not (i haven't ever had to disconnect during a match besides one time as surv when i needed to help my mom with groceries <:[). if not, this is very strange and i wasted five whole minutes in an empty map OR it was something with my connection. if so, sorry for writing a whole post on regular dc stuff.

They made it so when you dc they get their escape.

i've seen the survivor perspective for dcs and i searched up other scoreboards from other peoples games and saw that it says they were still healthy or active in the game instead of escaping
i just found it odd since i haven't ever had the same thing happen to me, but maybe it was recent :p
Hopefully the Devs see this and find it was a dsync issue
If the killer quits the game it counts as an escape for survivors.
You will keep your item and add ons and you'll only loose your offering.
i thought it didn't count as an escape but i think the screenshots i found was from old versions of the game :p thanks for clarifying!
maybe the fact that i searched the entire map for survivors twice & saw no gen progress was just the players? if so that's... not fun.
It use to not be like that before dedicated servers.
I believe before you were on the killers connection so if a survivors would quit it would consider it a DC as well as if the killer quit it would count as a DC.
Probably the only good thing to come out of dedicated servers tbh.
