Absolutely nothing. These devs have been screwing up matchmaking for over a year
In this case, yellow ranks were probably not available in your region for the 2 cross play players, so the Matchmaking paired them to you and searched for higher rank players as you to even out the odds. In other words you were the middle ground between the red ranks and the yellow ranks.
It should be rank based. Optimally in a range of +/- 8 ranks. If SWF it should consider the highest rank of the group, not the average.
if the search time exceeds a limit, those matchmaking limitations will be ignored.
that said, everybody knows matchmaking doesn’t work as intended since month. And the devs may occasionally test their MMR system on some servers without announcing.
It's on experimental ELO system where your rank is equal to the negative value of your previous losses on the account plus or minus the root of all positive or negative reports against you by fellow players squared minus 4 times your previous month's ranking times your currently displayed rank. All over 2 times your previous rank's value.
It's very precise and will equalize your matchmaking into where you belong in a matter of 20 games or so - just keep playing and you will see a lot more red ranks eventually just by playing a lot.
In this case it was likely just a 4-man SWF. Remember, the vast majority of SWF groups are legit just friends playing together, and in many cases that means a big rank disparity. It probably averaged the survivor ranks out to about your rank in this case, which I guess is sort of fair, if you just took the top rank of the survivors you'd have a really high-end killer who would easily chew through the whole group, which appears to have been what happened regardless.
Based on spaghetti coding and unicorns as far as I know
The other night my team of purple and green ranks repeatedly went up against high ranking killers. No joke, most of them were rank 1, and this went on for three hours straight!😕
Honestly that experience completely broke us. We've been playing Fall Guys for the past few days and it's been the perfect counterbalance to DBD.
This guy BHVRs.
