How the game has shaped due to lack of DC penalties

Currently, we have a free system in place that encourages players to DC at any given point in game with no penalty whatsoever, but the ones who feel the hurt are not the people who DC but the players who remain in the game. Should this not be punishable, wasting everyone's time thanks to someone else's selfish act.

What this free system of zero consequence DCing has created is a culture of rage quitters who DC out of a match the second they get downed by the killer, or if a killer can't find or down anyone before the first gen or two gets done into the game. It is frustrating that if you want to have a decent game nowadays, you have to play softly against your opponents to make sure no one rage quits.

There are many "no no, you can't do that to me!" moves that nowadays seem to not be allowed or else the result is a DCed player. The two of the most major ones seems to be either downing someone within first minutes of a match, or getting 2-3 gens done almost simultaniously at any given point in a game, especially early. Hooking people to basement early game is also a risky move that often results in DC.

We want to punish DCers who leave the game prematurely, but we also understand that being able to freely DC without penalty also does have its benefits against killers who tend to like to keep the survivors hostage in matches, or cheaters who cheat their way to ruin everyone else's fun. It's not one sided question whether DCs should be punishable or not, at least, not in Dead by Daylight, there's always those who are forced to DC for a good reason but would get punished if there was penalty in place. The abusers who keep people hostage in matches would rely on people being too afraid to DC and it would only boost their desire to continue their unsportmanship behavior.

We can not rely on the report system despite having the option to report rage quitters, becase the fact is that the system does not work, but is just a decorative feature to provide comfort for those unaware how empty shell the report system is beyond the chat ban report. Rage quitters may get reported, but they surely do not get punished.

I am disappointed to see that in such a great game like DBD, I can no longer enjoy many of the matches I play due to DCers. Waiting 10-15 minutes to a match, only to see 1-2 people DC within first 2 minutes and see this same action be repeated with the next 5 games I play, it's just awful and makes me want to switch to some other game.

Tell me whether you have had the same experience or if I am just one of those rare individual cases with bad luck.
