You know what I hate about reworks like Nurse or Billy ones?

No, it's not that they make a killer weaker or make him significantly harder to use and easier to beat.

What I hate about these reworks is that they don't give anything in return for handicapping mechanic.

Nurse's rework added cooldown on her blinks and...nothing.

Hillbilly's rework added overheat cooldown on his saw and...nothing again.

That's just not fun and boring. I understand that their powers had to be balanced because people don't want to put significantly more effort into countering them than they do with other killers. What I don't understand is that why was it so hard to GIVE something else to their basekit so they could do NEW things, rather than just be handicapped by the rework. I'm not even asking for second "opbrokenblahblah" ability. I'm asking to give anything to them in addition to their reworked power instead of just putting their main ability on a huge cooldown and that would be it. Here's an example.

Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

Imagine if they added demogorgon in 2016. Let's call him hypothetical demogorgon. He had no shred ability because devs didn't came up with an idea of a power including several abilities yet. He only had portals. But. These portals could be accessed from any point on the map and not when standing on another portal. Transition to them would take from 0.5 to 3 seconds depending on distance. And this busted ability would have no cooldown. The portals gave tracking, affected with oblivious which is not a status effect yet and so on and could not be cleansed. They also had much more charges by default, let's say 10 or 12. That was pretty normal for 2016 and he was rated somewhere near billy because meh no instadown but at least he is mobile. People used that hypothetical demogorgon`s power to shut down loops, effectively control the map and so on.

People would be whining and asking to fix that mess of a killer. 3-4 years later devs would say: "hey, it's time to revisit hypothetical demogorgon. let's rework his power". So, a few months later they release a patchnote of midchapter XXX.0.10: We decided to revisit hypothetical demogorgon`s ability, blah-blah, his power didn't fit into our standarts of killer's power, blah-blah, here are the changes: *changes that make his portals into what we have in game (12 second CD, 2-3 second delay before reappearing, can be cleansed etc)*. That's it. His portals are put on cd, they are given direct counterplay and so on. He gets no secondary power, he gets nothing. He could still be played and perhaps some tryharding hypothetical demo mains would even say how good and underrated he is and others would say that the rework didn't actually do anything, hypothetical demo can still be played the way he was played and some of them would say that they even happy to see that killer nerfed because of how annoying was he during these years and so on and on. See where I'm going? This hypothetical demogorgon got a "rework" that only took from him. The rework took potential, strength and fun from using his ability all the game and instead made him a m1 killer who rarely uses his power. The rework added nothing and made hypothetical demogorgon into a abandoned demogorgon, because even without the contrast with his glorious past, his power remains a pretty meh, niche and boring thing. Everybody has stopped playing him, some unlucky people who got legacy prestige on this hypothetical and abandoned demogorgon switched their main, because they can't do most things they learned through the years and now even newbies have little troubles with countering his power, not to mention those players who learnt how to counter pre-nerf hypothetical and now abandoned demogorgon. His pickrate eventually dropped to so low numbers, that people started making screenshots and clips when they faced an ACTUAL hypothetical and abandoned demogorgon in game, because of how rare he got.

On the other hand, we have another hypothetical demogorgon. This boi also had similar power in 2016 and he also couldn't escape an inevitable whining, which resulted into his rework. The difference here is that with the changes I listed above, this hypothetical demogorgon got "Shred" ability and was turned from hypothetical demogorgon into decent demogorgon which we have now in game. Some people were whining how strong his new ability is, but a few months later everybody figured out means of countering him and almost everyone, except a few people who just complain because they can, were happy about reworked decent demogorgon. He probably became weaker, but he certainly wasn't abandoned and got new tricks that he could pull off. See where I am going? Of course that example is purely hypothetical, yet you certainly could see the parallels I drew between this hypothetical demogorgon and some other killers I mentioned in the beginning.

When killer with a strong ability like Nurse's blinks or Billy's saw gets reworked, he should be taken one big toy from him and given 2 smaller ones, that aren't as big as the first one, even if combined together, but still interesting and enjoyable to use and figure out best ways to play with. Some reworks are basically braking that only toy and giving it back, while saying it's a new toy.

  • Becuase those killers were overpowered, that's why they don't get anything in return. It's called a nerf.

You call everything overpowered and thus nothing is overpowered.

It wouldn't hurt if their main powers got a more serious changes if needed and their basekit was given any secondary power, which added more depth to that killer, but we have what we have - killing reworks adding nothing except taking most depth and fun from playing that killer. Can't wait for another killer like deathslinger to have long cd added on his power and have this called a "rework".

Yes, no mither is overpowered. Literally everything is overpowered 🙄

Billy was fine in the devs eyes, but they nerfed him anyway. That was an unjustified nerf.
