How do you define gen rushing?

I see so many people argue they need to tunnel and camp to combat gen rush. My question is how do people define gen rush? It seems to me that much like camping and tunneling the definition is a bit vague at best.

Also please keep it civil. This is meant to promote understanding. Not flame one another.

  • Camping: Literally just sitting in front of the survivor for no reason. If other survivors are nearby and threatening to do an unhook, the killer is not camping

Tunneling: Chases a single survivor for multiple generators, and/or chases a survivor despite other survivor(s) working on an almost complete generator nearby. OR A survivor gets unhooked with BT, but the killer goes out of their way to avoid the unhooker and relentlessly chases the unhooked survivor despite BT.

Gen Rush: Multiple people on a gen, then the killer comes to chase the survivors away, and once the killer looks away for a millisecond, the other survivors just hop back on the gen.

  • Gen rushing is if they move their objective faster than my objective if I have 1 hook and they have 2 gens done you bet im going to rely on camping, slugging, and tunneling to gain a lead over the survivors now this can mean if im ahead ill play slower to compensate giving survivors 5 or more hook games before anyone has been sacrificed as long as im still ahead. I mostly count it as gen rushing if while im trying to play fairly im forced to use tactics like those just to keep up and win at some point.

  • When I run Discordance and it stays active nearly all game. That’s a gen rush <_<

  • Letting people sit on hook and state change solely to get more gens done despite the killer obviously not camping. Essentially the complete absence of altruism in favor of gens.
