They took up unnecessary space in the bloodwebs. No clue why the moonlight offerings were removed though.
I believe the devs have said that it was very difficult trying to figure out how to properly light a stage while also taking into account offerings that could potentially push things too far in either direction if the base lighting isn't just right. It wasn't really worth the trouble and was easier to just remove.
