Object of Obsession Limit
I think a good way to nerf object without changing it fundamentally would be so;
- Whenever you and the Killer look at each other, reveal each others auras.
- While revealing the Killer's aura, you drain the perk based on how many seconds you're revealing the aura for.
- After revealing the Killer's aura for 60 seconds, you exhaust the perk and cannot use it any longer.
This change is simple and gives the perk more of a downside. Instead of free info, you get a certain amount of use from it. This will force the survivor who has it to play it more strategically. To use it at loops is to waste precious time you have with the perk. Or you can use it while the killer is far away to see them.
I think this would be a healthy change to an otherwise unhealthy perk.

... so it would be a 60 seconds but more range Spine Chill that can get used by accidents.
The exhaust mechanic would be fine if you also didnt add the "looking at each other" requirement.
Are you suggesting that it's not strong as it stands?
As your suggestion stands then yes.
Object isn't free info, it costs a perk slot and also reveals your location to the killer.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what the perk does. It reveals the aura when you both look at each other or when one of you looks at one another.
Imagine thinking revealing your location to the Killer is a downside.
The Killer already knows where you are; on a gen. If you're not on a Gen then you aren't a threat.
Live: it reveals the aura when the surv starts looking in the direction.
Your change hovewer changes that to requiring both of killer and survivor to look at each other.
And unless you meant that as idea 1 and the other things as idea 2 it would be too weak with everything that you presented.
I find Object of Obsession pretty useless in my opinion. It's one of those tryhard/toxic perks to annoy the Killer with.
I meant to restate what it does but misunderstood how it functions my bad.
