A potential solution to the sheer amount of second-chance survivor perks
Let's face it, many killers at higher ranks are constantly subjected to being on the back foot. No matter how often you down survivors, they get so many perks to make up for their mistakes, that it makes no difference. On the other hand, as a killer, you give one survivor an inch, and all 4 of them will milk that mistake all the way to the exit gates. So I've been thinking about how to at least mitigate the combined powers of some of the troublesome perks:
Implement a new status effect. For example, let's call it 'Death's Door'. Just like the Exhaustion status, this will proc when a certain perk activates. However, this status effect will last for the rest of the trial.
Perks with this can include:
-Decisive Strike
-Adrenaline
-Unbreakable
Other scenarios this will proc:
-When a survivor is on death hook (Unhooked in second phase)
So what could this status do? Well, any perk labelled with 'Death's Door', much like exhaustion, will not be able to use that perk, or any other perk with that label. Survivors will have to choose between which powerful second-chance perk to use. On top of that, it would make sense that being on death's door would apply a moderate debuff too. Let's say a certain % debuff to repair, sabo, cleanse and exit gate opening speeds, but not healing. This debuff will be less effective when in the endgame, or with Adrenaline, but it would save just a little bit of momentum from the killer in the early-mid game, should a survivor use DS or Unbreakable.
There could very well be other perks that should have this status effect put on as well. Synergy with perks is fun and everything, but cheesing every match by having multiple chances is just too much. Force the survivors to choose, and keep them on their toes.
Thoughts? And no, I do actually like to play both sides as equally as possible. But I honestly find it way more stressful to play killer than survivor. Surely it should be the other way around? The only killer perk I have a problem with is NOED, and that's only in the endgame. Survivors get so many opportunities to make up for mistakes, but killers have to be so optimised and efficient at every given second.
