Does white ward affect items found in chests?

forgive me if this is a stupid question lol but i've never thought about this. and in the description of white ward it doesn't really tell if it affects only the item you take in the match. so basically, if you take a white ward, find an item from chest and die, do you actually keep the item or lose it?

    Yes, it does. It also affects items that you pick up off of dead Survivors, so you could get a Chinese Firecracker or Third Year Party Starter from a Survivor and escape with it, even if you die.
