Holding the Game hostage

Hey guys,

so i got a report from a no mither david for bodyblocking him.

I Was playing plague on Hawkins and tried to do my daily quest for her (hit 4 survivors after theyre broken bc of you power)

The no mither David was on the Generator upstairs in the close room. And he didnt leave until i was standing in the Door.

I didnt know how it works with plagues power if the survivor is already broken so i vomited on him for 12 seconds before hitting him.

He messaged me post game and told me that this kind of bodyblocking is banable and he reported me for that.

I have a clip on my ps4 that shows i kinda held him hostage for 12 seconds and using my power on him before i hit him.

Is this really banable?

  • tbh, nowadays, since egc exist, killer body blocking survivor should never be considered holding game in hostage. Actually sooner or later im gonna start a thread about this outdated ban reason.

If a killer body blocks a survivor in a location where they are unable to move for an entire match then that should be ban worthy. What if they're the last survivor and end-game collapse isn't triggered?

holding game in hostage doesn't mean not being able to move. It means that the only way to end the match is by DCing. Even at 5 gen, if I bodyblock one survivor, the match can still end for everyone, if the rest of the team triggers EGC.

  • 12 seconds?

Lol, you don't have to worry about anything.

Also, you said: "was on the Generator", meaning there was still work to do that could be done by other Survivors on other Generators.

Unless he was the only one left, he could've never been taken hostage as the others could've triggered EndGame Collapse.

Even so, if 12 seconds would be report-worthy, they'd have to hire a LOT more people just for those reports.

  • To be honest, I think the definition of "holding the game hostage" should be broadened EEEEEVER SO SLIGHTLY for Killers. True, you can't technically hold a game hostage indefinitely by yourself as long as the Survivors can still trigger EGC, but I think holding a Survivor in place for 4+ gens should definitely count for something. It's similar to a Survivor holding a Killer in place (in such a way that it wasn't actually possible to hit them thanks to the position they were in) until everyone else was gone and then making the escape themself, something I've had to experience.

That being said, OP's case is not even close to hostage taking and is nothing to worry about.

As I said, what if one survivor is body blocked in a corner and all of the other survivors had previously died? The survivor cannot escape via the hatch because they're being blocked and EGC isn't triggered because all of the previous teammates died.

Also, even if the game can end while body blocking one survivor, that survivor's game is completely ruined for no good reason.

The rules should stay as they are IMO.

if there's only 1 survivor left, then of course is holding the game in hostage. But, as I said, with egc nobody should hypothetically being banned if they body block someone. There's no good reason? Of course, but technically, from what devs told us, it should not be bannable (if at least two survivors are still up).

  • It's not, Most of the times people will tell you they reported you is for invalid reasons
