I know it's early for a Ruin rework, but hear me out!
New Ruin is obviously very strong in the late game, less so in the early game. In its current iteration it can't be a non-Hex perk because it would be too strong, but by being an Hex its use in the late game become so situational and based mostly on luck (or even incompetence of survivors) that I think we will very seldom see it at that stage of the game.
So I have an idea to maintain the same concept of the new Ruin, but with some changes to make it not an Hex perk.
Ruin
Gain 40/50/60 tokens up to a maximum of 180 for every survivor you hook. All generators are affected by Ruin; if a generator is not being worked on, it regresses at 100/150/200% the normal regression rate, consuming one token per charge regressed. The effect persists as long as you have tokens left.
(as always: numbers are just a general idea, they should be tested by Devs)
This has, in my opinion, several benefits:
- like Pop, BBQ or Surge, you benefit from Ruin effect only if you earn it
- by capping the amount of charges generators can lose, we can bypass the need for Ruin to be a Hex perk
- the perk becomes very useful in the mid-late game but it can't stall indefinitely it, even in very dire 3 gen scenarios, since tokens will eventually run out
- if the tokens are visible in the HUD, the killer will have an idea of when and if a survivor left a generator, which could help against stealthy survivors - assuming the killer is smart (...nothing is free, that's what I'm saying)
- (opposite of 4) - if having tokens visible would be too good (in certain cases it would be very similar to a Surveillance), you could simply have the icon greyed out when there are no tokens left, and normally lit when at least 1 token is present
What do you think Devs @Almo ? Have you already thought of something like this during your design process?
EDIT: in case the description is not clear: the tokens are capped at 180, but this doesn't mean that you have a maximum of 180 tokens for the whole game: once the game uses them, they can be replenished by hooking survivors.
