Hex : Ruin thoughts, as a survivor. And maybe some other suggestions
Hello all! I am a disgusting survivor main, here to share my thoughts on the ruin changes.
So.. i get why they may have wanted to change the perk, since it would have been amazingly unfun as a new player. Also it required very little thought or effort from the killer. The perk just kinda existed and the killer would get stonks.
The new Ruin makes it so that survivor will want to make sure they actually finish the generator so they dont suffer from the automatic regression. This may cause situations where a survivor will chose to stay on a generator rather than unhook since they dont want to lose a potentially enormous amount of gen progress. Thus you may end up with survivors getting 2 hooked to even 1 hooked.
Secondly, since all generators are automatically regressing, i believe the might work with surveillance, so basically, you always know where survivor are.
Third, thrilling tremors: 16s of 2x faster gen regression. have fun. You dont even need to kick it!.
4th: Perks like pop, overcharge, surge and other kicking related perks got a minor nerf from this ruin change since i would assume you cant kick generators anymore since ruin causes all gens to regress.
5th: This change may cause survivor to want to stack up on generators so they can get it to 100%. This way the survivor team doesnt need to worry about it being regressed by ruin. This is good for killers since they will be suffering from the gen stacking de-buff. (unless they are using prove-thyself)
6th:As mentioned in #5, the survivors will likely stack up on generators. thus this will allow ruin to synergize with Discordance.
I think that if killers use perks that would synergize with the new ruin, such as surveillance and discordance, I think this change would be a great change for the game, and potentially a buff to both ruin and various other perks.
More Suggestions:
Prove Thyself: Since ruin no longer makes skill checks harder, gen stacking will become more likely, making prove thyself better as a result. Prove thyself also removes the gen-stacking debuff aswell. This perk also doesnt require much work out of the survivor, similar to the original Ruin. Thus i propose these changes:
Prove Thyself no longer gives a flat repair speed bonus. Instead, It increases the likelyhood of receiving a skill check by 5%/10%/15%. Survivors will need to hit those great skill checks to get any benefit from this perk now.
In addition to the coop action bonus. All survivors affected by prove thyself gain 100% more blood points from generator skill checks.
Luck: Increases the likelihood of receiving a skill check from healing and repairing. Great skill check success zones are increased.
Toolboxes: Instead of increasing repair speed, they instead increase the likelihood of skill checks. Speed addons will be changed, to increase the size of great skill checks or will instead further increase skill check likelihood.
Brand New Part: Replaced with "Strange Tools": Very unfamiliar tools, shiny and new. Skill checks success zones are 80% smaller. Great skill check zones are not affected. Gain 3x the normal great skill check bonus while using your toolbox. Failing a skill check will consume 5% of the total charges.

useful information. THanks.
glad you found it useful! i wish people would actually think of the possibilities instead of hacking a knee jerk reaction.
It's all well and good, and thought out very well, but let's face it... not gonna happen.
Behavior likes kneejerk reactions because they do the same thing themselves. It often takes a direct punch to their face to make them realize "oh, maybe we shouldn't have done that."
A shame none of those punches have landed yet.
