Hardcore mode

Are there any plans on introducing a hardcore mode? Something where there are no perks, no swf, no lobby where the killer can see the names and items, no aura reading, no terror radius, no scratch marks, no red stain, and no indicators of the status of other survivors.

Just a barebone hud with nothing on it.
What do you think about it?

  • No plans that I know of, but it would be pretty cool. Even if it was just an event mode for a while to see how people feel about it. I really liked the beta for that. Everything was vanilla, and when you won or lost there was nothing to blame but your own skill.

I wouldn't worry too much about killers seeing items in the lobby, since I wouldn't want to see pre-equipped items/addons in that mode anyway. Chest it up baby. Though I'd be okay with everyone just being a silhouette so people can't just go, "Ugh, a challenge! I can't 4k this!" and dodge whenever they see someone with fancy clothes.

The mode could give a BP bonus multiplier to give an incentive to play a harder mode.
There could also be a checkbox to be matched with normal que players, if splitting the community would be to much. Maybe with an additional BP multiplier.

  • This mode is what I expected when I buyed Dbd back in the guys, not that everyone is aware of each other's position and the trouble is catching a survivor running in circles

I think running in circles wouldn´t be much of a problem, since this game mode would have a completely differnet approach. Killers can break a chase, because survivors wouldn´t be able to heal themselfes. Also more jumpscares and finally real mindgames, since there is no red stain that gives the killers position away.

    A real horror game mode.

  • I'd love an all no perk, no auras anything mode and also no one should see anyone else's items or name sin lobby. As @Peanits said silhouettes only so no lobby dodging and no excuses but you own bad play. The extra bp would be nice and probably throw in a bonus ot iridescent for that as well.

For a all hands on deck type of que give the killers an extra bp/iridescent bonus but don't let them know how many might be swf. To really make it interesting you could add the following game modes to it.

Anything goes - This one is for the those wearing the pants in the family so to speak. This mode would feature any items and addons/offerings you want to bring. But still no perks and still follow above idea.

Barely there - This mode you could only bring 1 item or offering not both and no addons.

Can I get a hand - This mode you could bring 1 item and 1 offering only, still no perks.

Damn i'm good - This mode features 1 item, 1 addon, and 1 offering but still no perks.

Everything but the kitchen sink - This is where the true ones live and die. In this mode there's nothing but your wits to win or lose. In addition to no perks, you get to bring nothing but your skills and prayers. So no items, addons, offering or anything. There's no screams allowed not even when you get hit, no terror radius, no sounds no nothing for anyone. No footsteps, no crows, no gen auras unless they get completed.

To make it even more Diabolical exit gates when powered aren't shown to anyone and won't show up on the map until they're powered. So be careful running around looking for the exit gates sinc you might run into someone else.

Frack mode - In this mode you get to choose your killer or survivor but nothing else, as the games loading you'll get a random assortment of perks, items and addons or nothing at all. You could get a key but with a flashlight addon.

Now last but not least there's the

HURT ME PLENTY mode - This mode will really test your skills out because just like the kitchen sink mode it's difficult. But wait how is that so, well glad you asked.

In this mode your killer, survivor and map are all chosen at random and you won't know till game loads. It'll be a outline only until it loads in. But once it does it's off to the races so to speak.

While i think those might be to many game modes, it might be possible to add them under the same hardcore game mode with different BP&shard multiplier.
But i don´t agree on the sound. You don´t get visual hints, but you can hear survivors screaming. This would also benefit survivors, because no one would know if someone was hook or where they are hooked. They could just hear the distant scream and get an approximate direction with a headset.

The barebone horror mode would feel like a complete different game.

Yeah I just threw that out there for feedback since they could even do it as a rotating game mode thing each week. So you could try a different mode each week or queue up for regular mode too. Some of that could be combined some down to 4 modes total 1 for each week and if they proved popular keep them going., The sound was probably a little overboard since that's a bit much like you say.

If you give a general idea similar to the doctors screams you know somethings up but not what. The same is true for skill check failures you get a general idea where it was but until you see it. There's lots of different things you could do to make it more sinister like darker but way more wide open. But the survivors would have small spaces they could hide around.

But no windows or pallets and no footsteps except within a certain range but no tracks. Also no endless looping spots. Some places similar to Macmillan Estates where's there single walls etc.

Something that gives the survivor a feeling like he´s playing Alien Isolation, Outlast or Soma. Where the survivor feels powerless and terrified.

I love something dark and scary where stealth is what wins you the game not running around blindly. Since one wrong turn and you're going to get nailed.

Couldnt agree. Could see myself enjoying survivor in hardcore mode too, but now it feels really weird

  • What if there was a mode where survivors see in first person too.
  • I would switch from this play mode instantly and never look back! They should reduce the pallets as well tho since it's hardcore mode and maybe add the scratch marks so survivors have to be a bit careful when choosing to run or play stealthy

I would still say no SWF in the no items, offerings or perks game modes, since swf would have kindred, bond and empathy due to voice comms

Actually good point since i forgot about that one.

That's why I said no swf in the first post.
