Perks

Would someone please explain to me why there needs to be a perk that completely shifts the tides of the game? As a killer main I refrain from using NOED because it's not fun to use and as a survivor it's just not fun to go against.

  • You will barely see NOED at all at high level play, because most killers prefer to have perks that help them throughout the match. I'd rather have something like bamboozle to stop fools looping me at a god window in the place of NOED which helps me after I got god-windowed' for 5 gens.

  • NOED is a crutch perk imo. It's very strong in the endgame and boosts many bad killers into purple ranks.

  • I still run it ocasionally to keep the survivors paranoid so they remain busy doing bones (in my opinion the game needs a secondary objective or at least better map design).

Also because it's not fun when 3 gens pop in less than two minutes and because sometimes map design is not in your favor as a killer.

  • @Xerge I mean honestly to keep them busy with totems and to prevent gens popping you could run gen perks like ruin and pop goes the weasel

Not always, good survivors can still do 3 gens in less than two minutes even with ruin, because they've gotten extremely good at hitting great/hex skill checks.

Also, totem rng isn't that good, sometimes survivors will spawn right next to the totem or it will spawn all the other way across the map making it impossible for you to reach it before it gets cleansed.

  • Hex: No One Escapes Death is a perk widely seen as "band aid kit for bad killers", though this does not resemble the truth.

the perk itself comes with a high risk for the killer and multiple possible counterplays against it, rendering it mostly useless in higher ranks.

this perk is ment to punish those who did not care about the secondary objective they have been given and instead only focus on generators by exposing them when the game is about to end in a victory for them.

this is, as you have said above, a possible gamechanger, which is why the perk is considered a Hex perk.

Hex perks in general are supposed to be gamechangers. they are extraordinarily strong perks that can help you shift the game into your advantage, but therefore they are destroyable by survivors. it is the same with NOED, as the perk is only alive for as long as the survivors allow it to be alive. on top of that, unlike any other Hex perk, NOED will not even activate when the survivors just did the totems before finishing the last generator.

this means that not only the perk can be destroyed uppon being active, it can already be destroyed even before it activates.

when someone says this perk would "boost noob killers" or "carry bad killers" or "gift the killer an undeserved win", they haven't understood how the perk works. as instead of "rewarding the killer for bad gameplay", it instead punishes survivors for ignoring the secondary objective they have been gives.

therefore the pure existance of NOED gives dull totems a reason to exist and could potentially slow down games, as survivors would cleanse the totems in fear of being hit by the perk - even if you may not have been equipping it.

this makes the pure existance of NOED very important, as otherwise no player would ever consider cleansing a dull totem and therefore they wouldnt have to waste any time off the generators looking for them.

the biggest risk NOED comes with, is that it may end up being a completely dead perk throughout the entire trial. a killer with NOED equipped basically plays the entire trial with only 3 perks (2 if he had ruin and it got destroyed), crippling him during the actual trial - all of that only to get a chance of NOED to activate in the first place.

if you, as a survivor, are looking for counterplay for the perk, here a few tips on how to deal with it:

    1) cleanse all dull totems

    2) memorize all dull totem spots and then check them one by one for a NOED totem

    3) play stealthy

    4) dont try to rescue someone with NOED active

    5) dont pop the final gen right in the killers face
