Gen idea

How about instead of m1 the gen for 80 seconds you have a skillcheck every second?

  • As tedious and boring as generators are now I doubt mashing space is going to make them anymore interesting. You're basically making it like being on 2nd stage of hook but it's your main objective now.

I would like to see them changed into something that is slower paced and requires a lot of thought to complete instead of just sitting in place.

My idea is have parts for gens that are scattered all around and in quantities depending on their rarity (i.e., the last part you need only spawns 5 total) and gens are now a puzzle like object that you have to solve with moving around the map actually being required/used for gens.

  • I think you're either forgetting or underestimating just how difficult skill checks are for new players. The learning curve is already steep enough, we don't want to make it seem impossible for them.

And as @coppersly mentioned, wearing out your spacebar isn't going to make the game more interesting, only more frustrating. I need that downtime between skillchecks to eat!

That idea has been brought up so many times. I assume what you are suggesting is not gonna happen. So instead something that could be easier to implement and it wouldnt just be holding the m1.

  • Every second lol. Doctor meta.

I need to eat to ya know, but people dont like the gen speed. This would help with it since it would be easier to miss a skillcheck. Aka slowing the gens

  • Ruin would absolutely need to change if that were the case, otherwise the generator would regress back to 0 after only a few seconds of someone doing it. You could probably even get away with just camping the totem if the people you're going against aren't great at hitting skill checks. Add in the Doctor's madness skill check and you're gonna' have a bad time.

Though I don't know how much it would actually help. If someone is good at skill checks, they likely wouldn't have a problem hitting at least good skill checks. It might be a little to frantic to hit greats consistently, but the end result would be roughly the same. New players would probably struggle though. A rank 20 match would sound like a skill check minigun going off.

  • If thats the case can we close this post? It was a bad idea

Both ruin and gens themselves absolutely need to change anyway, Im not a fan of this particular idea, but yeah ... Something should be done ...

There are much better ways to go about it than torturing new players and boring veterans, though. Making secondary objectives such as totems more attractive, adding more steps to the repair process, or buffing killers to be able to exert more map pressure are a few examples.

Keep in mind there's no shame in suggesting a idea that doesn't work out, I do that on a daily basis sometimes. Try improving the idea, and take the feedback you received to heart; make something new on your next iteration! Don't let this stop you from making more ideas! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—

I can contact a moderator to close it for you.

Well first of all why cant i close it if i made it?

While i do get that usually people dont help me improve the initial idea and atm i dont have a clue how to improve it. By the time i do know how to improve it the post will be dead as in nobody will look at it so yeah.

Just imagine someone hitting every Great and completing gens in 27 seconds.

I don't know, it's complicated to explain but it has something to do with how the vanilla forms is programmed.

For future reference, you can always flag your own discussion and say that you want it closed. A moderator will see your request and they will act accordingly! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜

Just imagine someone hitting every Great and completing gens in 27 seconds.

Then remove great skillcheck from it or make it so great skillchecks only give you extra points.
