BHVR, let the community create the next original chapter.
Most players would love to take some creative ownership of aspects of the game. Imagine seeing a feature and saying “that was my idea!” or “I approved that!”
When forum users create new chapters, they tend to receive very few views or comments, and that is discouraging considering the effort it takes.
So let’s try a different approach! It’ll take time, but the results will be worth it!
Step 1: Brainstorm.
- A special thread is pinned at the top of the forum just for this. People come here to post and discuss their ideas for the topic of the week.
- Each week is a new topic: killer power, survivor lore, perks, add-ons, etc.
- The topic is open for discussion Monday - Friday. Devs watch for popularity and programming feasibility during this time.
Step 2: Poll.
- At the end of the day Friday, the devs unpin the thread and replace it with a newly pinned poll.
- This poll will contain the best ideas from the brainstorming thread for players to vote on.
- It will be active for the weekend.
- On Monday, the poll is unpinned, results are announced, and a fresh new thread is pinned for the next topic.
- (Maybe consider contest rewards to users who create winning content ideas?)
Step 3: Rinse & Repeat.
- Continue deciding on new content week after week until a new chapter has been built!
- Try to time it right so that it can be ready for a chapter-release date shortly after the final decision is made.
- Show a progression chart of what has been decided and what future topics remain to be discussed.
