  • That's funny because the first time I played Spooky Myers, it was one of the survivors that burned Lerys.

    It was beautiful.

  • @IamFran said:

When a survivor drop their item they're are not begging for mercy, it's a sign of respect because they had fun or because you have played well, at least that's the meaning for me and some people I know.

Yeah, that's how I take it when they're at the exit gate. But I think it has a different meaning during the trial.

  • Yeah, I think going back to the old HUD (which gave survivors less info) would restore some scariness into the game. But newer players would hate that. I agree that maps should also be darker. (Coldwind and Crotus specifically.)

Survivors could also get a special "game over" screen when they lose. Instead of the same running animation, we could be shown a still image of the Entity feeding on the survivor. Or we could only hear the survivor's screams while our imagination does the rest. (What we don't see is scarier than what we do.)

The gameplay itself shouldn't be too hindering for survivors (like the above poster said), but some changes in the graphics and content would give DBD a nice extra dose of horror.

Any game's scariness will fade if you play it enough, so I guess in the long run, it doesn't matter. But I'd still like DBD to play up the horror aspects.

  • Pretty much EVERYTHING.

I love the whole setup with the Entity and the different realms it forces people into.

I love how eclectic the characters are in their personalities and backstories. Some killers are sympathetic (ex. Wraith) while some are just straight up evil (ex. Doctor) and some fall somewhere in between (Huntress, Nurse, Spirit...). Some are strictly supernatural while some are based on the grittier slasher genre.

I also love how all the survivors come from different walks of life and I think they're all likeable in their own ways. (All except Yun-Jin and Michaela. I don't hate them, but their backstories are just kind of meh. Let's see about Jonah.)

The gameplay is fun (...sometimes...) but I think the lore is what made me stick around.

  • You all made great points. Thanks for your insights, friends.

"Nerfing" boons is probably the most reasonable way to go.

  • Yeah, I agree with you about the last option, lol, but I added it to see how many people thought this.

    Good points.

  • (I couldn't find my comment after I posted it, so I'll submit it again and try to elaborate my points from earlier. I'll try to be constructive and civil without using any harsh words.)

I can't say anything good about the new UI. Everything from the awkward character animation to the scattered (and tacky) HUD is just unpleasant. I understand the DEVs worked hard to make these updates, but no one asked for them. All that effort should have gone into making changes that people have actually asked for (ie fixing bugs and gameplay balance issues).

I know I'm not adding anything new here, and that's kind of the point. Virtually no one likes the new UI, and players are saying so constantly. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to keep it. I'm sure the devs want us to bring in new players and to keep paying for DLCs/cosmetics. The only way to keep the playerbase strong is to give players what they want.

I've never been all that vocal about the game's problems until now. Honestly, the problems I used to have with the game seem even more minor compared to the current problems with 4.5.0.

Hey, maybe that's their plan. Maybe the devs got tired of people complaining about the game, and introduced this new UI to prove a point that it could be worse. Just to get people to shut up about MMR and player toxicity.

If it means going back to the old UI, I'll never say anything bad about DBD again.

    Is that a deal, BHVR?

Jokes aside, please give us back the old UI. We want it.

  • I dislike playing in any closed map as both survivor and killer for the same reasons everyone else has brought up. I'd much rather play in Coldwind Farm as killer 100 times then go through any indoor map in either role.

The Game is the most boring visually. Midwich is equally as annoying gameplay-wise but at least it has a lot of neat details. (Like the crying in the bathroom and the dead stuff everywhere.)
