Ever since the last Midchapter update (GF, Legion, hemmorhage), I've been getting this issue: I launch the game, it shows the BHVR logo, the Unreal Engine logo, etc., and no matter what I press, I can't skip it. Then the cutscene (trapper, claud, jake, dwight) starts, but no matter what I press/click, I can't skip it either. Once the cutscene ends, all I get is a black screen, and nothing happens. The game won't start. I don't get the loading screen.
I have to close the game and/or the Steam client and if I'm lucky, after a few attempts the game will finally work for me. I've never had this issue, until the last Midchapter update. It's really annoying.
It helps me: right-click the Taskbar and leave the action menu on top of all windows until the game itself is fully launched, and then you just need to click on the window with the game and then the video will be skipped.

it could be an Easy Anti Cheat issue. Try this:
Go to your Dead by Daylight game folder. (Steam -> Steamapps -> common -> Dead by Daylight)
Go to the Easy Anti Cheat folder.
Run the Setup. exe and press the big blue button that says repair.
