Played about 5 straight hours as red rank survivor. Here's what I experienced.
Matches started with me getting a rank 20 killer with 2 perks. Easily won that match, then we went against a rank 9, rank 11. All this seemed kind of okay.
After that, it would go from one extreme to the next depending on the outcome of the prior game. So if we win a game, our next match is very good rank 1 killer. Then we'd lose that game and get a brand new rank 20 killer with no perks. Win that one, spend a few more matches in the teens (unckilled killers), and then back to a rank 1. It seems extremely inconsistent. It never evened out to a good pace, just bounced from super skilled to brand new players depending on the prior games outcomes. I don't think that is the intended outcome.
There was also times we would lose 3 games in a row and the killer would go from rank 8 to 5 to 1 each loss (and clearly, skill was a factor there) which I am also unsure was the intention.
Overall, seemed very inconsistent as survivor and kind of all over the place. We should not be getting a brand new rank 20 killer with no perks after losing a single game to a skilled rank 1.

They have licensed characters. They have to pay for licensed characters. The fact that we can even get the DLC's for $6 is kinda amazing considering they are LICENSED characters. And the fact that they let you obtain perks from the shrine instead of having to get the DLC literally combats any P2W argument. SO you have to wait a few months, or pay $6.
I love the game regardless of it's faults. I have zero issue giving them $6 a few times a year for DLC content that they themselves, have had to pay licensing fees for. I actually want to support the company of the game I love to play. Sorry others have a problem expecting a company to get paid to like, develop the game, bring in new characters, handle servers, pay their employees. Guess they should just do this all for free....?

Also, for those saying the survivor didn't EARN DS - it has a tiny little skill check area. I've seen people miss this skill check all the time. It's little. If you miss it, you wasted your DS for the entire game. SO yea, we earned it.

These are perks to combat a play style. There is nothing wrong with them. if your play style is to go after the person that was literally just hooked 60 seconds ago, then eat your DS. If you are the type to slug, eat your UB. If you don't tunnel or slug, then those are two wasted perk slots that the survivor could have used to bring something else and ended up not ever using, so therefore, didn't help them whatsoever.
However, considering I run both of these perks, and use them both almost every single game, well, obviously it shows how much they are needed.
I never understood killers whining about these perks. Literally. You are faster than us and chase us with a weapon that one or two shots us. Why SHOULDN'T we have a way to play instead of just be at your mercy. It's a game, not a killer simulator.

Still new to DBD (playing about 2 months, rank 1-2 survivor, rank 14 killer - survivor main, rarely play killer)
My testing thus far:
Rank 2 survivor - getting rank 15-20 killers, easy games. Poor killer lol.
Playing SWF with brand new rank 20 survivors - getting rank 1 killers. My poor friends, rip.
Playing SWF with rank 1-3 survivors - rank 15-20 killers. Again, poor killer.
Played Ghostface as a rank 14 killer - I hardly ever play killer. Never have played Ghostface in a game (level 1, 1 perk, etc) - all rank 19/20's and a random rank 5.
My most played killer is Doc (for farming bloodpoints yeee), still rank 13 killer (pipped since ghostface) - Red rank sweaty game. I've played MAYBE a total of 20-30 games on him ever, and not very well, I might add.
I KNOW ranks don't matter, but they DO give an idea of how much experience someone has in the game. Even without taking that into consideration, there is no way (been collecting data for months, remember) that I should have brand new killers as an experienced survivor, or red rank survivors as a new killer.
What are they taking into consideration with the new MMR? How many times you survived? Gens done? Unhooks? If that's the case, I should have killers that are far more difficult to play against. And for killer? I get 2k's most times - what are they considering for this to give me red ranks?

People choose their perks based on their preferred game play style. In this case, nothing is crutch. Let people play how they want, it's their own experience and their choice to run perks without it being "crutch". Im fairly new and run Spine Chill, love that perk. I can play with or without it, I just prefer it. Shrug.

Ok so let's talk about the release of the mmr system and the information we got leading up to it.
Awhile ago the devs shared information regarding the MMR system telling us that the system was working in the background for testing purposes and looked promising.
Either in that same post or a later post we were told that on release, the MMR system would have our scores calculated and we would see a dramatic change in matchmaking.
Fast forward, the system is released and we all know what is currently happening.
In a post we were told that we had to work through 10+ matches for the system to get our scores calculated.
In these two contradictory posts we learn that either we were given false information by accident or on purpose about the system calculating scores in the background.
Ok fine.
Fast forward a few more days and posts are being made with little difference from day one matches from players who focused on increasing their supposed mmr to get better matches.
Here we know that the PR speak is that the devs are working on the system to improve it.
Considering that the system doesn't seem to work at all, any change will be an improvement if it can separate the new players from the vets.
While I can understand the silence and PR speak, in this situation I think it's important for the devs to let us know HOW they're fixing this problem.
Are you working on separating new players from vets or are you working on improving the scoring system to make it settle a score with fewer matches?
Maybe you're trying to do it all at the same time which means everyone will be stuck with this system until you manage to fix various problems.
Speaking only for myself, I would like to know what your priorities are regarding this issue so we as players will know what to expect in the coming weeks or months regarding matchmaking.
I think all of us would like a little transparency regarding what happened with the system and how it's being taken care of.
I would like to understand what's happening rather than assuming.
It just doesn't work.
Im rank 2 currently. I played SWF with just one other person, a rank 1. We were consistently getting rank 17-20 killers. 5 hours of back to back matches later, surviving LITERALLY every match because the killers are new - still getting rank 20 killers in their first few hours of playing the game. The more I survived, the more inexperienced the killer was.
Fast forward to today, a few of my friends wanted to try DBD for the very first time. They are all brand new, obviously rank 20 with no games on their belt. First few games - rank 1 killer. They are literally getting stomped. They know very little of the game mechanics, haven't practiced with skill checks, etc. Played at LEAST 10 matches, still getting rank 1 killers. Some of which feel bad and let them farm. Cuz why wouldn't you feel bad?

SWF doesn't help.
SWF with experienced good players = we get rank 20 brand new killers.
SWF with brand new players = get rank 1 experienced, good killers.
You know it's not working when killers and survivors are apologizing to each other in chat after the match due to how unfair the matches were.
-
The survivors don't know how long you've been playing the game, OR how new you are until after the match. Unlike killer, that can see survivor info prior to the match starting, survivors cannot see any killer details til later. We can';t read your mind to know that you're new or not until after. Sorry that this has been your experience, but its probably because the MMR is messed up currently and you are going against experienced players when you should be going against players that are not that good yet.
-
Did some SWF today, their FIRST DAY on the game - going against rank 1 killers and getting completely destroyed, no gens done, etc. Last night, I play survivor solo as rank 2 - getting rank 20 brand new killers.
If they've been collecting data, did they LEGIT implement the new algorithm BACKWARDS?! Cuz I went 5 hours and escaped every single match, but the killers kept getting newer and newer. I legit apologized after the games cuz I felt bad.
honestly don't understand but do NOT think this was the intended outcome.
-
Been testing this for 5 hours. The better I do as survivor, the noobier the killer is. Have escaped every match for the last... 5 hours. Now I am getting rank 20's who have 1 perk because they have played less than 24 hours total (confirmed in after game chat) I have 402 hours. Rank 2.
Did they do the algorithm backwards? The better I do, the easier the matches become? I'm confused.
All these new players are getting frustrated because their first few matches they are being thrown in with experienced players and literally are getting the floor swept with them.
This cannot be the correct intentions of the new matchmaking...

It's not being stacked, and it is personal only. 4 of us brought cakes in SWF and we each received ONLY 104% We tested i t and had 3 people bring cakes, and only 3 people got ONLY 104%. So it's completely broke. And a lot of BP we are missing out on.
-
Same thing happened to me, two games in a row.
4 of us in a round, 3 used cakes - 3 people got the bonus and 1 didnt. Happened 2 rounds back to back.
