Killer: I always play as either Spirit or Ghostface. Spirit because it's fun to phase and I like scaring people, downing them, letting them wiggle out and then seeing if I can find them again with my perks (Nurse's calling and Stridor) over and over again until they realize I have no intention on killing them. My headcanon is that Rin doesn't want to kill, but she still can't fight the compulsion to hurt. She'll kill only when the compulsion is too great, otherwise she fights against the entity to help them escape. As for Ghostface...well I just like butt-dancing while I chase people, then have a butt-dancing party with the survivors because it's really funny to me.
Survivor: I don't really have one yet. I just haven't found one that has really clicked with me. I typically play as Yui, Kate, Claire, or Dwight. More often than not, I usually always find myself going back to Dwight. I don't know why. I'm in the process of P3ing all of the survivors for the perks and it's pretty telling that the first one I P3ed and got all Tier 3 perks for from every character + common perks was Dwight. He's also the first one I ever got the adapt achievement for (I've now gotten the adapt achievement for all survivors to put that into perspective). Why do I do this to myself? Why am I attached to Dwight? I want to play as a female character, but I may be addicted and need help.

My daughter did it on her first try. I was impressed. I haven't made the attempt yet.

Yeah thats awful. I report people who send stuff like this not because in particularly hurt by it but it's just not healthy having people communicate like that.
It's really not. And I'm sorry for ranting, but that really got me. I've been playing for months now and have 350+ hrs and this is the first time anything like that happened. I know it happens a lot on both sides though and she took it like a champ, but still. It was not okay. People can be cruel sometimes.

Just wanted to put this here. Killers can be just as bad. Me and my daughter (she's 14) go out of our way to be nice. The round before last, she let the killer kill her because she accidently teabagged and felt terrible. This round her internet glitched out and she got disconnected. Again, she felt horrible and asked me to send the killer a message saying sorry for the dc, it wasn't intentional and he played a good game. I did so. He replies back saying she's trash, kill herself, etc then continued for about ten minutes sending me hate messages about how horrible my daughter is. That is just messed up. It is things like this that make people not want to be nice. And if that person is on here and reading this - that is so not cool.

If I even know someone is streaming I personally like watching the game from their perspective afterwards. It's just kinda cool to see a match I was in from a different perspective, especially if they're survivor/killer and I'm the opposite and I get to see what it's like playing against me.
And for people that take serious issue with being on a stream... shhh, nobody tell them that they've probably been streamed countless times by people that don't have a twitch link in their username 😮
That is very true. :)

I'm 50/50 on it, myself. Part of me hates the idea because - I'll be honest - I'm just not very good at this game yet (I play mostly survivor) and I don't really want to be mocked by a bunch of people. On the other side, I remind myself that it doesn't really matter because I won't ever watch it, so how would I know what they say and why should I care? Saying I'm conflicted is an understatement, which is why I was curious to how other felt felt on the matter.

I said WGLF, mainly because that's the only one I have right now. I have the only Unbreakable and Tenacity unlocked so far, but not in my bloodweb yet. As it stands WGLF has helped out a lot, especially since there have been more slugging rounds than normal the last few days. I've been able to save quite a few with it before getting down myself.

What's item-donating? Do killers get something out of items left behind?
No, killers get nothing out of it. Leaving an item is basically just a way for the survivor to tell the killer thanks for a good game in case you won't be able to tell them so in end game chat.

Where have you survivors that care about killers fun been for the past 3 days? I have loads of screenshots of survivors using keys map offerings and all metal perks rushing gens
Being slaughtered, I think. :D These past few days have been brutal.
-
As a survivor, I must disagree. Not every survivor is like that. Now, be aware this is coming from the perspective of someone who has only ever played single player games (Bioware fangirl), and this is the only multiplayer I play. My thing is - if everyone isn't having fun - why play? It will NEVER be my intent to hurt someone or ruin someone's day. That's just messed up.
I refuse to engage in any type of toxic behavior. When I can see the killer is having a bad time (bad at chases, hasn't hooked anyone, etc...) I will go out of my way to start a chase, fail that chase, half-heartedly wiggle (so it's no obvious that I'm letting them hook me), and let myself get hooked. When I play against a killer that made it fun, I'll leave an item behind in thanks at the gate.
It also requires both sides to want both sides to have fun for that kind of magic to happen. When everyone cares about fun, those are the best matches ever and the most memorable.

Found this on internet
Just...wow. They look amazing!!!
-
My guess? Just like survivors, they want to achieve their objective. If you show skill, why run the risk of letting you off the hook and possibly escape? That's just my opinion though, I don't know for sure, but I feel your pain. Whenever I pallet stun or do a good loop (ultra rare for me) I tend to get camped and repeatedly hit while on the hook. I literally just had a game where I pallet stunned a Bubba and he camped / tunnelled me and then let everyone else live. It happens. Breathe and move on. I don't let it get to me. It's just a game and I'm sure they have their reasons.
-
Sounds like a good idea at first, but yeah - the toxicity would likely ruin it complete. Already today I've had three rounds where a teammate actively tried to get another teammate killed. Voice chat with them? I think not.
-
Spirit. She just looks amazing. I'm in love with her. When I play killer, I usually play as her and my only sadness is that I'm in first-person so I can't look at her. Whenever I face her though, I get really happy, I don't even care if she kills me quickly, is toxic, etc. I'm just happy to see her. I'm weird.
-
I've been trying to get BP so I can level up all the characters to get everyone's teachables. That way I can have all the perks and start trying different combinations until I find one I really like. At the moment I have about ten survivors at level forty, and about five killers, so Right now:
Survivor: Prove Thyself, We're Gonna Live Forever, We'll Make it, and whatever other perk I feel like (Borrowed Time, DS, Leader, etc...)
Killer (Spirit): BBQ, Stridor, Hex: Ruin, and Discordance. Trade out Discordance for another perk if I have a challenge that makes another perk a better option (i.e. hook someone after endgame collapse = NOED).
-
As a Survivor:
That when you first start, Technician can go a long way in helping you as you get familiar with Skill Checks.
Don't try to escape from the hook. 99% of the time, you'll die because of this. Just wait and hope a teammate will save you. Only try to escape if you're about to enter Stage 2 and no one is coming for you.
Not to rush to the first gen you see, and possibly 3-gen yourself constantly, making it more likely for you to screw yourself and your team over by having the last gens close together.
Looping is a thing. Yeah, I thought you just ran willy nilly away. And looking behind you? Never crossed my mind.
Self Caring in a corner hurts everyone.
Don't be afraid to be found by the killer, even if you suck at looping (like I do). If you never get chases, you'll never get better.
Don't be afraid to play as the killer. Doing so will get you familiar with where survivors usually spawn, where gens are typically located on maps, etc...overall playing as killer makes you a better survivor and vise versa.
Don't teabag at the gate. I used to do it when I first started because I always saw others doing it, only to learn later that's it's really rude to do this.
As a Killer:
Don't expect to just instantly find people right away all the time. It's not as easy as it looks when you first start out.
Camping and tunnelling are frowned on. While it may be a valid playstyle, you'll get a lot of hate for it and it makes the game unfun. I didn't even know what tunneling was until I started reading the forums.
Some teams have a designated looper. If someone comes up to you, or is clicking flashlights, etc...it may not be the wisest idea to spend the game chasing them because you're pretty much wasting your time.
In General:
Don't be afraid to try different perk combinations. If you always stick with the same perks, you never know what you could be missing.
Never let toxic players get to you. They want a raise out of you. Don't give them the satisfaction. People you don't even know should not have the power to ruin your day.

Butt-dancing Scream. Something about seeing Scream butt-dance with the survivors is just funny to me.
-
Personally, I just think it's bad manners to slug and kill everyone within the first couple minutes of the game. How is that fun for anyone, especially after waiting so long for a round to start? There have been times when we have all spawned together - survivors and killer. The killer immediately downs everyone before we can even touch anything (Usually just happens with Leatherface or Hillbilly or any other person who can instadown you). Game over. Yeah, they got their 4k, but I just don't see how it could have been much fun. A good example of this happened when I first started playing. We were all in the yellow rank, got a rank 3 killer. We all spawned together close to the killer. The killer was a Leatherface and instadowned us all right away and hooked us. Game last maybe a little over a minute. It wasn't fun for us and I can't really see how it was fun for the killer either.
When I play as a killer, I never do that. Granted, I usually play as a friendly killer, but when I have to do challenge where I have to get a 4k, I'd never go that path in order to get it. I'd much rather have chases, hook, etc...than just down everyone ASAP and hook them. I'd much rather only get a 1k and have fun than a 4k that felt...for lack of a better word: cheap.
If you are super competitive and feel you must do this to be happy, then all the power to you. In some ways I can even understand. Maybe the killer is having a bad bay with a bunch of toxics, said screw it, and decided to instadown and hook. I don't know. Whenever I happens, I just shrug and move on.

Resident Evil, no question - though my kids would disagree since they are huge FNAF fans. If they put Leon in DBD I doubt I'd ever use another survivor and any killer from those games would be interesting. It just seems like a natural pick, to be honest. Outside of FNAF or Resident Evil, though - and this is stupid - I'd love to see Chucky. Being killed by a little doll with a big attitude would be fun. There are really so many killers that would be interesting to see in this game and so many great ideas for them floating around (Candyman and the use of mirrors, for instance). Above all of these though, Resident Evil would still win it for me. It's just a classic.

I love Spirit. She is easy, but she takes getting used to. She's better with the right perks. If you aren't good with paying attention to the environment or sounds, she's probably not for you since you can't see people when she's phasing. I always play as a fun friendly killer, though so I'm not really one to give advise. I honestly just picked her as my killer because she's freaking beautiful. Yeah, it's shallow and stupid, I'm aware. It's also for this very shallow and stupid reason that I love going against spirits. I just like looking at her. Unless it's the blight skin, then I'm sad. Again, I'm aware of how stupid this is. I don't care. It makes me happy, which is what matters to me.

To be fair, I run Prove Thyself, We're Gonna Live Forever, We'll Make It, and whatever other perk I feel like at the time. Before I started using that build, I would escape a match maybe 1 out of 20 matches (I'm not competitive and just play for fun). I only started using that build because I'm trying to level up all the survivors who's perks I want, but it's actually come in pretty handy for me. I'm now escaping more often because of my build. I'm either working on gens or unhooking and healing everyone. It's even better if someone else has kindred so I know whether I need to go for the save or not. It's also nice to know I help my team with this build. Knowing I can heal fast when I unhook is nice. It wasn't until reading this thread that I knew multiple people working on a gen can be a bad thing.
-
I'd recommend Technician to every new player. It's a fantastic perk to use when just starting out so you get use to skill checks without always alerting the killer to a gen. I'd rather lose more progression on a gen than have a new player constantly let the killer know what gen we're at. I typically run Prove Myself and help teammates on gens so please, Technician away.
-
If I play against ghostface, my only hope is that they'll mori me if I get killed (love that mori). When I play as killer, I usually only play as Spirit (I only kill people when I have a challenge where I have to, otherwise I just have fun chasing and hitting, if I down them, I either let them wiggle free or drop off at a gen), but after watching my son play a friendly ghostface, I've started playing as Ghostface too. Something about butt-dancing with the survivors and just plain out having fun is just so satisfying to me...not to mention hilarious. If I've had a really, really bad day I'll do this just because I really need a good laugh and that's one of the best ways to do it.

We once played against a wraith who made it clear from the start that they were just farming. We all went along with it and had a great time. We played around with the Wraith the entire game, dropped all the pallets so they could break them, let them constantly break the gens, and let them hook us all twice. We had played with plenty of farming killers before and done this many times, so we didn't even bat an eye at this. Like all the other times before, we thought they'd get their two hooks each and let us ago (again, happened every time we played against a farmer) except this killer decided to turn at the last minute. After our second hooks - while we were healing each other - the wraith slugged and hooked everyone, getting a very easy 4k. In the end game chat the killer apologized and laughed about it. Since then, we haven't really trusted farming killers anymore. It was a lesson learned, which was kind of sad since those tended to be the most fun since everyone (us and killer) always had a good time in those rounds. Live and learn.

My favorite was when I watched my son play as killer once. He wanted to play as a friendly killer and maybe brighten someone's day. After the round started, he realized a survivor was AFK. He ran around butt-dancing (he was playing as Scream) until the other three survivors trusted him enough to follow him to the AFK person. He kept walking to the AFK, to a hook, then to the survivors, trying to convey what he wanted to do (hook the person for being afk as a means of saying 'bad survivor', but have the person get off the hook right after because he didn't want to kill anyone). It worked.
He hooked the AFK, and the others got the person off. He then butt-danced with them until the gens were done. Once they were he put the AFK into the dying state, picked him up and carried him to the exit game, the other survivors following after. My son dropped him at the edge of the exit and walked back and forth between the downed AFK and the survivors. I don't know how really but I guess they understood what he wanted to do because they healed the AFK and my son then knocked the AFK out of the gate. Everyone lived.
To this day I have to wonder what that AFK person thought when they came back and saw they survived that round when they didn't even play. It was the best thing I've ever seen.

Made an account to say this:
Dead by Daylight is the only multiplayer game I play, and only because it's a cross platform game that I can play with my family. I only play DbD with my kids, my Significant Other, and - at times, my SO's cousin. The only reason I started playing it in the first place was because my kids (12 and 13) begged me to play it with them and we all got hooked (pun intended). This game is basically our family time. I can come home from an extremely stressful day at work, jump onto DbD with my kids and we all feel better.
Also, we aren't toxic and we don't like toxic behavior. We won't teabag, we don't annoy with flashlights - we basically mind our manners. If the killers didn't camp or tunnel, we always tell them gg and give them a thumbs up. Nine times out of ten, at least two of us will die every round, though more often all of us will. Just because it's SWF doesn't mean any of us are that good. I'm certainly not. I'm a green rank and still feels like a rank twenty most of the time. Do we care? Not really, no. We just want to have fun and relax. That also means making the round fun for the killer too since we understand that life already sucks and we don't add to that by giving them a bad experience. If we dominate the game and the poor killer didn't hook anyone by the time the gates are ready we will let the killer hook us a couple of times before leaving (granted, we don't make it seem like pity hooks, we pretend to try to escape - then run into a tree for instance. In my case, though I don't have to pretend - I'm naturally gifted at running into trees.)
If I couldn't play this game with my kids, I wouldn't play at all. We each have our strengths (I'm so horrible at looping it's embarrassing, while my 12 year old son is actually pretty decent at it. I'm so bad at running from the killer I usually end up running toward the killer on accident like a complete dummy). Never once has anyone we faced gotten upset when we say we're a family unit and they played very well. Often we'll have pretty good end game chats with killers.
I guess I said all of that to say this: not all SWF are toxic and it's really sad that many are, but no one should be punished for wanting a way to spend quality time with people they care about so long as you aren't hurting anyone by doing so. We just want the game to be fun for everyone - otherwise what's the point?
