  • Focused Competitor- Feng Min is largely safe from the Huntress. Being female the Huntress is less inclined to harm to smaller female, sometimes. Feng Min does ten to irritate her with how fast the woman can run.
Rugged Scrapper- She wants the golden coin handing from one of his red outfits. Otherwise he can die like the rest of her prey.

Hahahaha... Yup, that sums up my games against her! Got that Untamed Donkey Jacket EASY back during the Howling Grounds Event.

Ya did good, kid. Very good. However, I think you could've added a bit more to those entries though. If you want, I can give you my version that expands a bit on Feng and David's encounters with Anna. But that's only if you want to. Don't feel like I'm being a critic, I'm not.

  • Well, let's make a checklist for Amanda shall we?

    1. Unstable mind? Check
    2. Unstable emotional state? Check
    3. No real purpose in life beyond emotional impulses? Check
    4. A bodycount that rivals that of a Russian gulag? Check
    5. The physical capabilities to commit such crimes? With a suspension of disbelief, check... I guess...

The point is, John Kramer (sorry if I misspelt that) would have been too merciful and to weak for the Entity. Jigsaw's whole schtick was to put 'sinners' and other flawed civvies through his torture-porn gallery of death in the hopes that they would be "reborn" as something better. The only reason he's got such a high body count is because most of his victims can't handle the pain/made stupid decisions and died as a result, making him mostly yet indirectly responsible for their deaths.

Amanda, on the other hand, while initially on board with this philosophy, was blinded by emotion and obsessed with Kramer's praise. She didn't really care about whether her victims survived and wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty. If you've watched the films yourself (I haven't, but I did research), you'll see how far she goes to do the stuff she does.

  • When it comes to fantasy/horror/eldritch/lovecraftian magic stuff like this, sometimes the inner workings of a fictional universe are so broad that even writers can't properly explain it themselves. But with DBD, it's definitely something that can't be explained without a breadcrumb trail of lore to follow. And while DBD HAS lore, there isn't a lot to work with in how the Entity works.

The best possible explanation I can think of is that it's kinda similar to a H.P Lovecraft novel, but it's a theory and nothing more. Here's what I think:

The Entity is choosing to start plucking killers and survivors from the 20th and 21st Centuries, because of the many bad things happen in this era (and frankly I don't even need to list them) and it was able to gain lots of power during that time. Before the Industrial revolution people still believed in magic and the supernatural. This was a time before science and automation started to become a mainstay of modern life, where the common folk were god-fearing peasants that regularly prayed to God (or whomever the think He is, I won't judge) and (mostly) avoided all things sinful for a shot at a good afterlife.

But with the Victorian Era came, people started to turn away from religion in favour for more logical and fact-based beliefs which lead to fewer people keeping the Entity at bay. As a result, it was regaining enough power from a lack of occultists & other like-minded groups/individuals pushing it away to start pulling people into a purgatorial game of cat-and-mouse in some off-world pocket dimension by the time the >1900s came around. But because the 20th century is often regarded as a time of civil strife and human tragedy, despite our huge advancement in technology and science, thanks to the World Wars, the Cold War, The War on Drugs, The War on Terrorism, ruthless dictatorships, etc. And because the Entity feeds off of human tragedies that result in (often) multiple human fatalities, it was essentially like an all-you-can-eat buffet, thus allowing it to hijinx anyone from any era from the point when it became powerful enough to do so.

However, and this next part will probably contradict what I just told you, because it lies somewhere between the material world and the immaterial world, time is borderline irrelevant to the Entity. Sure, plenty of horrible events took place before the 20th Century, but between 1900-present day, most folks were able to make a decent living with the coming of the Industrial Revolution. But it's also in this era and beyond that the the worst of humanity started to emerge, which is why the Entity is picking individuals from 1900 onwards.

Anywho, that's just what I think. I'm probably wrong, but it's just a hypothosis.

  • Woah, woah, guys, hang on a second! He's still doing Feng and David. Wait a bit before he does some'in' else! He's already got a lot of typing as it is, and remember, the game we play is stressful enough as it is! Or, at least for me whenever I'm tanking and being the bait. The amount of hatchet wounds in my back...

  • Certainly creative work, mate, fine stuff. But the fact that you used such beautiful words for Anna's interactions and haven't added any of the female survivors' interactions feels a little disappointing. If you can, add one of them please. Preferably Feng Min but it's your choice.

  • @RotBb Schizophrenia? Maybe, but none of us are psychologists. Remember, her mother died protecting her. That event would act as a trigger for her humming and perhaps her hunger for love (as twisted as it is).

But that event combined with a lack of development in the brain and the harsh environment of an Eastern Slavic Alpine forest would transform anyone into a deranged lunatic. Anna's different because she grew up there and was taught how to hunt by her parents. Good ol' dad probably left her at an early age and she probably lost her mom at least when she was 7-12 years old. Young enough for development to really start, because most children have a basic grasp of reality around then.

I've asked this question on Quora (stupid idea, I know), so if someone with a degree answers, I'll let y'all know.
