I definitely see what you mean, but I would say your issue is more with the keys than the hatch. The hatch on its own might only let one person escape. While that isn't desirable, the alternative would be a never ending game where the survivor can't work on a generator because the killer is patrolling them and the moment they touch one, the killer will hear it and know. Back when this was possible (before the EGC), these matches would go on for an incredibly long time.
I did address the key being the main issue. I want your thoughts on 3 survivors jumping through the hatch because they feel like it. It's an action used purely to spite the killer for doing well. Keep in mind this is mid game, gens are still unrepaired.

Just give us an overhaul of the game. Rework gens or change the objective entirely. No more skill checks that require you to press 1 button to win. Maybe transport one objective to a place. Repair something else. Create side objectives that give passive buffs to killers and survivors. Survivors can sabotage the killer's passive buffs while trying to buff themselves. It's a 4v1, the killer has to be OP or have a noticable edge.
At the start: killer has an ability, perks etc. But also a monolith on the map that supplies some kind of buff.(this killer buff from the map could be the op factor) The survivors mess with the monolith to take that buff off the killer temporarily, while it gives them 1 of 4 buff choices. This creates a power struggle while the objective battle is happening.
Extra balance details could be worked out later but it's a rough sketch.

I'm hearing a lot of this sportsmanship talk but, every game I play survivors tea bag 24/7. I get it if a good player is trying to get you off a weaker player so they can loop you to death. The problem is when the survivor culture says sit at the exit, wait for the killer, so you can tea bag and give pity points. Then send hate mail no matter how the match went. Do it mid match if you like. I have my everything turned off, don't care how they feel, not gonna throw salt at me.

Did you ever stop to think that even after YEARS of nerfs and people still saying survivors are too strong, that maybe they are the POWER ROLE and not the killer?
If it takes years of nerfs and they are still too strong... There is nothing more clear than survivors are the intended power role.
Prey stronger than the hunter? That's dbd.

They literally just reworked to make Doc less frustrating to play against only. I don't know about making them "really good".
Doc isn't even "really good". He's just average at best.
True, it might lead to killers being even worse because of survivor bias. Its funny that the doctor, an average killer, would merit a response like this. They could be preparing for more drastic changes with better killers.

I’ve talked about the hatch before and I recommended they change it into a mine elevator that can only take 1 survivor after they repair it and power it up with 3 gens.
Unless someone calls it with a key back up.
Unfortunately the hatch mechanic overall was poorly designed.
But hey I would add and a change all kinds of stuff if I could to make the game more interesting.
That's a cool solution. Making it a optional objective sounds good.

Even as a survivor, i hate the hatch mechanic. It was a lazy way to end the game when there was only one survivor. Hatch should only be usable if all gens are done and via a key. If there is only one survivor, just automatically open the gates after 60s , but the killer can gets aura reading on the survivor every once in a while (Even when in lockers). Then some pallets will get reconstructed by the entity (depending on the amount of gens done) during this "End Game Chase".
That's an interesting way to do it.

You sound like you came here to start something.

I’m a survivor main and I dislike the ruin changes.
Now if only we could get 90% of survivors to dislike it.

Everyone is talking about how they hate the changes. What are you talking about?
Read and maybe you will find out.
