So I know this is late, but I wanted to chime in. I really feel like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game by Gun handled text chat very well on console. So basically, you just can't use it unless you plug in a keyboard. They just skipped controller chat support altogether and said you need a keyboard or controller attachment. That's the way Behavior should be looking at it instead of trying to make it accessible on just controller. The people on console who care enough about text chat will absolutely put forth the effort needed to do it. Additionally, the TCM game also features the ability to mute/unmute your entire lobby at the push of a button as well as allowing muting by default. I see a lot of people concerned about toxicity and cyber bullying if they brought this to console, and it's been proven that it can be easily remediated. I think this is just a clear case of the Devs not caring enough to put effort into a feature due to it being low priority
