I am sick of seeing 1-3 MFT comboed with hope every games and read people that claim it's a fine perk.
It reminds me of the conversation on old DH.
hope a nerf won't take years this time around...

Once the last gen pops you lose. Killer is completely helpless in endgame without a NWO or NOED. I get that endgame being survivor sided is a reward for finishing the gens but thats another thing, they only even finished the gens because I actively chose to play fairly and not tunnel. I'm being punished for playing nice.
If you are playing fair on all but 2 killers in the whole roster, survivors equal to you in skill are making it to endgame with at least 3 alive. Meaning thats 2 survivors to take protection hits and bodyblock you, 2 survivors to go 99 both gates, etc etc. im not gonna get into details.
Essentially what im getting at is that endgame is just a loss for the killer. Which is stupid because playing fair will always get you to endgame against good survivors. Its completely unfair for endgame to be this unfair to killer, to the point that things like protection hits have 0 risk involved once it begins. In fact, NOTHING has any risk in endgame!
- Unhooked survivors have basekit BT, meaning if the gates within 44m they escape. Moreover, if theres a pallet within 44m then they will very easily be able to get distance from that to the gate. Combine this with the inevitable protection hits and that survivor is guaranteed to escape.
- Any strategy you use in endgame is void. Camping? 2 survivors rushing the hook guarantees they get free, unless their incredibly dumb. Which loops around to the first bullet. Tunneling? You arent gonna be able to start and finish a chase without them making enough distance to the gates to escape on almost every single killer. Then coordinated teams will be taking hits constantly since those have 0 risk anymore.
- Protection hits become a ggez. Normally the counter to protection hits is just to hit them. The downside being they are now more vulnerable and give great slowdown for later. its a risky tradeoff you take to help your buddy out. But not in endgame! Simple spend the measly 20s to 99 the gate then rush over to take as many hits as possible. They are not going down before they reach the gate. One hit guarantees 25s of distance before they can m1. Granted thats a 4.6 m1 based calculation, but it holds true. Not every single killer can use their power on every single loop. Even wesker can easily be dodged by just running behind stuff at long range. and since 25/4 is 100... if their healthy at the start of the chase then if the gates within 100m they escape. Throw in protection hits and adrenalines and MFT+hopes and its just unwinnable
- MFT HOPE. THIS COMBO IS JUST NOT FAIR. Nobody with these two perks is dying in endgame. Sure with other survivors there was a chance at the very least, you could severely outplay and get an early down etc. MFT hope just guarantees that if you are alive when the gens pop, you are escaping. Adrenaline shares this issue a tiny bit... but adrenaline pops once and thats it. a big chase extender, even better if you are injured etc. But thats it, the effects over. MFT hope guarantees you just win the entire game in endgame. As if MFT didnt do enough of that.
Theres a reason killers love NWO and NOED so much. They are the only things making it possible to comeback in endgame. Any hook you get in endgame thats not a kill is worthless. If theres 2 others they all escape. If theres one, you get your 3k by camping etc. But even thats only IF you can catch them. Horrendous map RNG, mft hope, protection hits, 99ed gates, basekit bt and many more make doing just that extremely difficult.
Why do survivors get hatch and 4% for clutch mechanics when their being stomped but killers have nothing? Thats not rhetorical its actually kind of confusing. Pretty much everything about killer falls apart in endgame. Pressure? useless. Hooks? near pointless unless you already have a 2k. Chasing? near impossible thanks to a certain combo. etc etc the list goes on. the game breaks down in endgame.
As a new player,
End game just makes me want to DC to save me the trouble.
They have body blocks, endurance from hook and soon, I read we won't even be able to try to pressure by picking them up if they unhook.
Just what are we suposed to do??
I see anywhere to 2-3 gens on average pop for 1 chase that takes less than a minute... I keep getting paired with 100 Prestige survivors when the bonus BP for killers hit 100% and I am honestly done trying to learn.
Playing this game as killer feels like you are MEANT to lose EVERY games.

Yeah the actual nerf to the repair speed bonus is very minor. But no more bonus bloodpoints will make it less appealing for a lot of survivors I think.
I think that it is beside the point.
I could care less that they get BPs or not, that does not even remotely affects me as a killer.
I am tired of seeing generators popping within 45 seconds or less.

Well they’re nerfing Prove Thyself in a week so pretty soon you won’t see that as much anymore.
how is the nerf going to change anything?
All I see is that they are taking away the BPs and a percentage that affects gen time for less than a fraction of a second.
The perk will still be just as effective.
Maybe I missed something?

that's some good help, I'll make sure to keep in mind that some of what the survivors do at times... don't really have a counter per-say.
I think I'll my best based on the other things and ressources you brought up... maybe give blight a shot.

Survivors have a type of perk called an "Exhuastion Perk". Most of them provide a short, but large speed bonus after a certain action. Thats why they are sometimes faster than you. For example:
Sprint Burst: When you begin running, you move 35% faster than the killer for 3 seconds. You become exhausted for 40s afterwards. Exhaustion does not deplete while running. Exhaustion perks cannot be used while exhausted.
Lithe: 35% faster than killer for 3 seconds after a rushed vault, exhausted for 40s
Balanced Landing: After dropping from a ledge, 35% faster than killer for 3s. 40s exh
Think of them like a chase ability survivors can have.
The white shield is from hitting somebody while they have an effect called "endurance". While active, endurance prevents a survivor from being downed. Example:
After a survivor is unhooked, they gain endurance and a 10% speed boost for 10 seconds. This is where endurance is most commonly seen. This happened to prevent the unhooked survivor from going down because of their teammates mistakes, and subsequently being tunneled out of the game. Tunneling refers to hooking the same survivor over and over, ignoring all others, to get a kill as early as possible. Its most commonly seen as a dick move since it makes the survivor being tunneled have 0 fun that match.
Back on exhaustion perks: Their is not much you can do about them unless you are playing specific killers. Oni in demon dash is actually faster than the speed boost provided by exhaustion perks though. A little note about exhaustion perks: Right now there is a very powerful one called "Made For This". While injured you get a 3% speed boost. Sounds bad, but the killers speed advantage over the survivor is only 15%. This means that it will take 20% to catch up to that survivor. This is bad for oni, since he has no power in chase out of fury. So chasing injured survivors out of fury becomes a total waste of time. If you dont see a big speed boost from the previously mentioned exhausted perks, they likely have made for this. As a side note, survivors using MFT also use Dead hard frequently.
Dead hard: After being unhooked, dead hard activates. Press E to gain the endurance effect for 0.5s. After use, dead hard deactivates.
This can make lunging futile. If possible, do NOT lunge at a survivor who you think might have it and instead opt to walk up and slap them from super close. They can also use this on your demon strikes as oni, so wait a second or two before actually hitting them if possible.
Wow, that's super helfpful.
How do I counter play then?
dead hard would explain why sometimes, injured survivor just didn't go down when I used my power on them too.
dang, that's a lot of good information so far, thanks.

the white shield is a status effect called endurance which you get from various perks and Survivors get for 10 seconds when they're fresh off the hook (+ speed) so am assuming you go for the recently unhooked Survivors often?
also for a beginner oni isn't the ideal choice he's decently difficult to play well even for experienced players so perhaps chose another killer like legion/wraith/trapper
killers are faster than Survivors mostly by 15% percent but some select few are only 10% faster and those usually are the ones who throw stuff plus hag and spirit.
a good beginner load out is spies from the shadows for tracking, fearmonger, sloppy and jolt
i personally learned so much from watching people play so give twitch streams/yt guides (especially from otz) a try.
Well,
I don't try to go for unhooks on purpose, but specifically in end game, when they go to unhook, what do I do? They always seem to be able to run across the map for free without ever going down trading hits. How come can they even block my movement like that? feels so lame.
it also seems like they "hug" me when coming off hook... hard not to take the hit as I can't even go for the other survivor I'd rather hit really...
I do my best to pressure gens but I had to change my approach as it seems those always pop before I can even get to them when my power isn't up and I am REALLY not a fan of the killers you mentioned, first, I payed for Oni with money so I can play him since he looks so cool and I'd rather learn to be better with it...
but with the exception of wraith, the killers you mentions feel so much weaker, I never got any 4k with them, I feel COMPLETELY powerless from what I've experienced with them.
I'd say wraith was ... alright, but the design and powers makes me snooze.
at least Oni has a cool chase music and ability.
that aside, what should I do when I'm stuck as M1? it feels like they get these windows right next to gens and I can't seem to EVER catch up without them making it to a pallet or another vault.
I really struggle here.
