  • I play both sides though these days I lean more toward killer (Legion generally) since I find it a lot less annoying but usually during the day I get instant survivor queues while killer may take 2-5mins depending on the day while after about 2pm or so killer gets instant while survivor queue times may take up to 5-10mins around 8-9pm.

Things I can safely say is the killer changes lately have been fine for the most part (still waiting on that Legion rework T-T) and the killers I get lately have played constantly slugging, tunneling, camping, and while yes I agree its a strategy it simply isnt fun to play against. Waiting sometimes as much as 10mins for a match to get tunneled and camped out in 30s no thanks i will just play killer where I can at least play the game rather than doing nothing even if I only get 1-2 kills.

Regardless people blaming things like boons I think the fact that the single largest player base drop was in August which was more than double any month since boons came out in October, I think it really outlines that boons arent the big issue. The game is just growing stale, people are finally moving on whether it be to frustration or boredom or life in general and I dont think its specific to either side. I have not seen any drastic change in my queue times on either side since crossplay was added and even then it wasnt much difference since I moved from PS4 to PC almost 3 years ago. Are killers quitting? Yes. But survivors are quitting just as fast.

TLDR; Queue times are the same as they have been for years and both sides are quitting probably at the same rate and the player base is bleeding people in massive quantities regardless of role

bro this kind of thing happens in dark souls all the time. the fact that its only now hitting a game like dbd is what is surprising.

Yep, was an issue in Dark Souls and likely the same or a similar method being used here, Cheater loads malicious code into a flashlight or medkit goes and swaps it at a chest, you stumble across it and pick it up and now its on your console, right click and oops game crashed and the console wont boot

theres two types of hackers in this game, the blatant ones where a jake snakes around at 100mph and theres the subtle ones, where a killer KNOWS where you are even when they absolutely should not under any circumstances KNOW where you are.

there are plenty of the subtle types of hackers, but because they are so careful about how they cheat, EAC will never know to look for them. the blatant ones get reported and found out relatively quickly.

ive never heard of anyone bricking in the dbd game due to hacks; i have only heard about bricking for dark souls. picking up an item an invader leaves you is just asking to be soft banned in that game.

sadly the dark souls brick is the same way they can do it in this game, in dark souls they use a save editor to load the item dropped with specific code that is damaging to the hardware then leave it for the player to pick up. This game hackers can load this code into things like flashlights and medkits before loading into a match that stay with it. This is why if you pick up a cheaters flashlight it still can retain its function if edited to do so. They have also found ways (not sure if via the item pickup or other method) to take over other peoples report user functions. The thing is in this game with crossplay its a lot easier for a PC player to do it than a dark souls player use to which was console specific play requiring an already jailbroken console and a save editor.

  • I cant confirm it is currently happening but I can for certainty tell you its possible.

The console reads data from the game, in a similar method used to originally jailbreak consoles such as the xbox and ps4 (or the vita/psp/ps3/3ds/ds) using certain games can let you gain access and run code not meant to and this game can do the same, hackers have shown they can make your console run data they execute by taking over the report user function at the end of a match. All it would take is for them to tell your console to run specific commands that could crash/brick your console and just like a jailbreak gone wrong your console is now a paperweight.

Is it happening, no idea, but the hackers have certainly shown it is very much possible and if they arent right now how long until they are...

  • Not saying this is what happened to OP's console but a hacker in this game could very easily brick a console or another persons PC, its demonstrated on several streams and forum posts that hackers can inject data into other peoples game clients so that when they pull up the report user function all they get is a bunch of vulgarity spamming across their screen. All it would take is for the hacker to choose to inject the specific data commands instead of vulgarity into someone elses client (just like in the old PSN messaging debacle) and it could easily crash or in the worst case outright brick a console when it tries to read the injected data. BHVR needs to take a very serious look at the cheating issues because if this is indeed what is happening or even if its not the fact it CAN happen is rather serious and not just for consoles. Right now its just throwing a bunch of vulgarity across their screen but it could easily be malicious code and malware injection and suddenly they have more than just a game to ruin.
