Forgot to ask but what are all of your opinions on the perks?

I don't necessarily think he'd have to use his notebook as a weapon, his character design could quite honestly fit well into the game in my opinion, as well as if u look at a killer like the demo-gorgon he doesn't use his head to hurt you, he just slashes you, I'm thinking a similar concept could be used for Ryuk, Now as i can agree that he may not be a very big slasher nor survival icon, but he is indeed an icon within the darker side of anime. From the Manga perspective I can see where u are coming from, but with how the anime was produced they make him out to look more towards a killer personality with a comical view, think how Deathslinger laughs as he pulls you in with the chain, it's almost like that perspective. He's a comical killer, but he is indeed an icon who has killed countless people.

His power was to kill people however the book told him to do so, So yes he was a killer, and two U can't kill people and not be a bad guy unless you're an army person, without that you are just a murderer, so yes he is evil, he is literally a demon. Three, Parasite would make no sense, like literally at all. The entity has killers that are terrifying and evil, like murderers would be evil, *cough cough* Ryuk. Parasyte the anime has no real main evil character. Death note however has Ryuk who kills people with his power through the book. His Mori could literally be him taking the book out flipping the pages and finding your characters name and killing them how it was written.
