  • I fully believe that Dbd is killing itself... at first it was slowly, but now the game is in a sharp decline.

I've been playing for a few years and have occasionally complained about stupid things. I know that - but this feels far worse than those rants. I hardly play this game anymore - most nights, we don't even bother playing but when we do, we play 1-3 matches before we're over it. The update that we had just yesterday (I know, early) I think could ruin the game altogether. Is it just me? About 50% of our matches (located in Canada btw) have survivor bots. The killers we are facing don't even seem good -- they are far worse than what we've usually played. Despite this, our last 6-7 matches have all ended before 2 generators even get finished. I'm not sure what the patch notes are, and I don't really care -- we're casuals. But I've noticed we have teammates who have no idea how to play, a bot survivor, and we're running slower than ever. The killers are also faster than ever. We've went up against some of the easiest killers to beat (twins, clown, knight, etc) and haven't even had 3 generators completed in any of those games.

The game is also buggy as ever. The killers disappear from our screens constantly, our sprinting is interrupted and cut out by walking animations, running vault takes too long to pop up and the healing bars and unhooking bars aren't loading up. I know it isn't an internet issue or just my console because the people I play with are experiencing it too (I'm PS4, they are PC). I don't see any forums about this though, so is it just too early? The game has never run less smooth for us in years and the enjoyment is near nothing. It's impossible to play as the survivor right now - I don't know if killers feel the same (I know they are winning more since this update, but are the wins even enjoyable? I doubt it's fun to watch survivors struggle to use simple mechanics and having games end in 10 minutes because you have hooked everyone three times in that span). It's just annoying and frustrating - especially because the skill levels have dwindled down to nothing in our lobbies. We've played better killers, we've played with better survivors - but now we have literal bots (not skill level bots, actual bots that just have survivors names) and people who crouch and hide in corners without a heartbeat on them in our lobbies. They don't heal, they don't unhook, they don't even run from the killers. And the killers are usually awful but take advantage of OP perks to win games (in the knight game, he just sent spammed his minions to each generator and then camped survivors on the hooks, and in the twins game, she collected 5 tokens somehow and was able to full kill each survivor from only being on the hook 0 or 1 times.

The game is just unfun and I find us playing less and less and less, and since our few games since yesterday's update, I'm not sure we even care to play again. The games are buggy, quick, boring and frustrating, and it's beginning to feel impossible to get all 5 generators done in these lobbies. So I'll ask again,

Are we the only ones experiencing these problems, or does the game feel like it is entering a dying state?

  • No experiences with post-game chat as I'm PS4 main, but what makes survivors 'toxic' in the eyes of the killer? T-bagging? Waiting last second to leave door? I'm not going to fully disagree with what you're saying anyways as it wasn't really the point of the post. I'm just talking about the past few days feeling very toxic, and sure, survivors included.

How to know if someone is completely new to the game:

When Legion, Wraith and Ghost Face are the "easiest and best killers to use if you want to win"...

    ok buddy lol

  • And just another comment as I read the rest on this post; guess the knight doesn't necessarily need a nerf, but the problems that persist while playing the knight need a nerf. I can win against the knight, a lot of you are right, he isn't a strong killer per se, but he does ruin the game. So long as the knights I've been playing it seems, even if it is just one person on the hook, once you are on, the game feels over for you. I've been on the hook and stayed on the hook until death, cutting my game short and no-fun at all, and I've also survived while he's camped others on the hook, leaving their games no fun and mine too

  • In regards to this post; thank you to some who have offered tips. Some things I just genuinely didn't gather about the Knight, which is fine and I'll attempt to use them.

As for exploits, obviously there's some discourse about the definition in this thread. Call it an exploit don't call it an exploit, I would assume people understood what I meant by it. Exploit just feels a lot easier to say rather than 'using a game mechanic to the detriment of the game'. Which is what the Knight does.

Also, I agree there is a huge skill-play issue with killers, for example, this problem doesn't even exist with 'the twins' because it is much harder to operate. I've never found an issue with the twins. But, now why would anyone ever play the twins when they can just play the knight, someone who is much easier to 'use a game mechanic to the detriment of the game'.

My main issues with this is the environment that the knight has been creating. And now, has been much more than just a few games. It's the point of -- people are not going to take players off the hook anymore because the knight camps them while spam-sending his guards to areas around. It becomes the easiest way to camp because you can still get hits on other players outside of the knight himself.

Further, it's up for debate whether this is survivor sided or killer sided and I guess it does depend on the situation. If there's a party of 4 survivors? Sure, I guess it's much easier to be a survivor than a killer. But a solo-Q survivor with 3 other solo Q's? Jeez.... killer sided, but depends on the killer again. As I've said, I've played killer, and if there's 3 killers that I can say I comfortably win with every single time unless I let some players live, its legion, the wraith, ghost face. Those 3 are consistently the easiest and best killers to use if you want to win. When it's those killers, it's killer sided HEAVY.
