Picking process is usually anyone filled with some sort of rage and/or capable of destruction while still being controlled. For the former, in the case of The Spirit, the entity originally was aiming for Rin's father, but sensed the rage and despair in Rin and decided she was a much more worthwhile killer. For the latter, Leatherface. He doesn't understand the trials, only that the survivors will somehow have him killed (a fear carried over from the real world) and the entity replacing his parents who he always listened to.

I also like the dynamic with Amanda. John wasn't a good fit for killer because he had a "one and done" concept (which he only ignored for those who had done something horrible again), and would only target people he knew did bad. None of the survivors really fit this MO, a lot of them actually helped people throughout life and were at worst just loners who drifted by and caused no-one harm.

Amanda wasn't so restrained, willing to attack anyone she saw as evil and put them in almost if not completely unwinnable positions, and would most likely only get madder if someone did survive the traps.

for the picking process, yeah I know which one the Entity picks to be abducted, and I know it can change its mind, I'm just talking about when it abducts the survivor/killer, it could abduct them at any moment.

for the killers case, it's usually after they killed someone like Legion or if they're in a situation where they would of been killed or arrested if it wasn't for the Entity.

For survivors, it's more difficult, but it's mostly when they're alone.

or for both case, when they're on the edge of death, like Bill, Adam, Rin and Amanda and the Entity would rather use them than let them go to waste. in a way, the Entity saved them from their demise, only to face a fate worse than death.

They said it in an old stream some time ago. But it's true, the new chapter apparently retconned it

Victor was indeed dead and then resurrected by the Entity.

you know, I would say this as a theory

I believe the Entity can revive people from the dead, only that theirs would be lost and messed up, if it happens to a survivor, then they would go insane and unable to do anything, same goes with killers, they could attack survivors but unable to be placed on hooks.

which is why it allow Victor to be the exception, with him hunting down the survivors while his sister hooks them.

back to the John topic, yeah, the Entity can't abduct dead people, but can bring people who are dying and put them in the realm where their wounds are healed or have no pain. remember, it can abduct anyone from any time, I don't know how the picking process works, but I believe it tries to make sure its existance isn't noticed, so it can only abduct a certain person at the right moment.

the reason it adducted Amanda instead of John is because while John is the true Jigsaw killer, he doesn't 'kill' per say, he gives people a chance to survive his games. while Amanda believes that people should die, which is why she made unwinnable games which leads to her downfall, so out of the two, Amanda would be more easier to control than John.

(also for my earlier statement, that means Amanda literally disappeared in front of John, Jeff and Lynn, but all three would die right after anyway, so it wouldn't matter, just that when the police arrive at the scene, they never recover Amanda's body)

  • I mean, I still see it being a possible idea.

  • Nope.

I don't believe this is true, because you're assuming that nobody is real and I hate ideas that nothing is real, if this theory is correct, I will be greatly disappointed.

The fact that there is information of people entering a fog and reports of missing people indicates that the Entity realm is real. I prefer the idea that the Entity do this for survival rather than entertainment because it shows an more interesting concept.

the concept of 'nothing is real' is pretty much a good conclusion to things that doesn't make any sense, and you want to believe that what doesn't make sense isn't real, but unfortunately they are and you just don't know what it is till you look more into it.

I seem to remember reading something in the lore about there's a place where 'broken' survivors go when they're not capable of producing the desired tasty emotions anymore. I wonder if the Evil Sky Crab tosses killers there too.

    yeah, that's the Void.

if they constantly fail to make sacrifices, then possibly.

  • you know a village doesn't mean a place with huts and all that. it could also mean another words for 'small town'

the place I live in is called a village and I'm from England.

As for alternative timelines, I guess it could be possible, Julie's memories seems to show another version of what happened when they killed someone, where they wear different masks instead of their own masks.

There's also mention in the latest observer logs that he encountered memories from Claudette that doesn't seem to match with the one that's in the realm.

I would like the to think that while the Entity goes to different timelines and probe memories, it also probe those who are already in its realm but have a different life. it is possible that there would be versions of the survivor/killers who exist in those different timelines, this would also explain the different cosmetics that can be a bit out of place like Apocalypse survivor Jeff.

I don't know. The entity feeds on hope and strong emotions so maybe those of someone 21 or older tastes better? If the entity even tastes.

if that's the case, then why did it take Steve and Nancy instead of say, Hopper and Joyce? why would it bother abducting late teens then age them to 21 just so that their hope taste better? it sounds like a lot of work and I don't think the Entity would care to age them.

I don't think age matters for the Entity, it's just that the devs are scared of having violence towards children and teenagers in DBD, so it's better to say they're all be at least age 21 or over when some of them are under that age.

I get that they don't want to get into trouble with some countries who find it unacceptable, but if that's so, then they really should consider only allowing characters who are canonically 21 or older to be in DBD when doing licenses.

I'm still going to see Quinten, Steve, Nancy, Laurie (I forgotten she was 17 and she was taken during events of Halloween when she was 17) Cheryl, The Legion and Victor as under 21s

So the Entity is an all powerful being right? From lore we understand that time isn't consistent in the Entity's Realm, so to me it would makes sense that that means the Entity is controlling the time in it's realm. It can make time go forward or backward, but time doesn't seem really effected to the people within the realm or at least they just don't realize it's happening. I was thinking how we age technically every second even if it doesn't feel like it. So what if like the overall time of the realm, the entity can control the aging process of individuals in the realm. So in the case of let's say Quentin Smith, he might have been taken when he was 17 but the Entity used it's power and by Quentin's first trial he was 21. As if the Entity were to physically age him those 4 years.

okay... why would the Entity age 17 year old survivors to 21?

also based on the lore from Freddy and Quintin, it seems to take place right after the film when Nancy's (Nightmare on Elm Street Nancy) mother was killed, so Quintin and Freddy was taken around the same time

he would still be 17 when he was abducted but could be 18 at the latest.

and sure of what the other people are saying that Nancy is 18 and Steve is 19, but that's still below 21. still proving my point that not all characters are at least 21 years old or over

  • I guess so, I mean, Benedict Baker came from the 19th century too

  • That's what makes Leatherface a bit of an interesting character

Sure he's a cannibal and he kills people, but it's not on his own choice, he was abused by his family and believed people trespassing their land are bad people.

it's a bit sad, but you have to remember that he also kills people and wear faces, so yeah, he is bad but not evil

  • "The Devs have said that all characters within the game are 21 years or older"

they said it once in a livestream and it's completely wrong

Quentien, Steve, Nancy and Cheryl are 17 years old.

Frank is 19 years old with other Legion members being around the same age.

and Victor, despite being Charlotte's twin, died when he was a child, even if he was relived, he was dead during the time when Charlotte grow up, so he would mentally be the age of a child.

  • I have 2 favourite headcanons:

1: The different areas in the Entity realm co-exist within the campfire realm, when a survivor dies and/or sacrificed they end up at the campfire on a different spot, this would explain why there's themed stuff going around in every new update

2: Killers who have some form of sanity or can able to not attack other killers do some meet ups and talk to each other (and the ones who does this are The Nightmare, The Pig, all 4 members of The Legion, The Ghost Face) they try to avoid other killers as they randomly attack anything that breathes or are under control of the Entity

  • well who knows, but I hope the new few chapters they focus on something different.

Keep in mind that Entity roams around the multiverse, and I like to think it originally went to the universe to abduct the parents and the Blight, went to other universes for a while then came back to the Blight's universe to abduct Felix, Élodie and the Twins.

it would eventually leave to find another universe with a survivor and/or killer to put into its realm.

though what would be an interesting idea would be to have one of the parents as a survivor, that way, we would know more about the Imperiatti than what the Pariahs know about them.

  • simple answer: The Twins were sold off to the cult that worships the Entity while Talbot was part of a monk organization of a ancient mystery school that has knowledge of the Entity

while different chapters, the survivor and killer are from separate universes to each chapter (especially the licensed ones) the past 2 chapters seems to exist in the same universe,

said universe being a world were secret societies are aware of the Entity's existence, these societies would discover how to summon the Entity or do research on how it works, with a few organizations would worship the Entity as a god and make sacrifices.

  • I agree that Victor is technically is still a child, he died as a child and even if he's revived by the Entity his body and mind is still the same as his corpse over the years.

the only way they can say otherwise is to confirm how old the twins were when Victor died, that age would be his real age and based on how the backstory seems to imply, he died before Charlotte went into her teenage years, so once again, even if his body was frozen for years, his mind is still the same as a child,

    so technically a child.

  • there's one problem with that theroy.

if survivors enjoy being hunted down, how can the Entity feed on their hope? not to mention that the survivors will eventually become emotionless shells and end up in the Void, so I'm sure they are suffering and not enjoying it.

I mean, I do understand some people in who would like to fight, but there are many others who seemed scared in this realm.

  • we already have a Bunnyman killer in DBD...

The Huntress and the Legion (in Robbie the Rabbit outfits)

hopefully we can add one more, but I think 3 bunny killers is enough

  • yeah but that's not what it's suppose to be, both in and out of universe

out-universe, the game is suppose to be powered vs powerless, survivors not being able to fight back against the killer but can do things to escape, give the survivors the ability to fight back and matches will be much shorter.

in-universe, the Entity would make them stronger and have enhanced durability to counter any attack from survivors, this would also explain how someone like Pig could lift up Jane Romero over her shoulder because they have enhanced strength from the Entity.

also if survivors attempt to take the killer's weapons or use any sort of weapon like hatchets in lockers (excluding blades for decisive strikes) then the Entity will remove the weapons out of their hand, this is also the reason why there's no guns in the Entity's realm.

  • Okay, with the new chapter of the Twins. I realised an interesting way to incorporate Chucky into DBD

make him a Legendary set cosmetic for the Twins.

have him as Victor where he pounces on survivors while a human Tiffany Valentine as Charlotte who does the main attacks (if you don't know who Tiffany is, he's Chucky's girlfriend who turned into a doll and then back as a human in the later films)

there can be unique animations where Chucky is on Tiffany's shoulder instead of inside her right breast, and when released, he would run around with a knife.

  • @ChurchofPig said:

They probably are other characters that are trapped in the entity's realm. I like to think of them as characters that maybe they like the idea of but couldn't figure out what perks they'd have or what powers they'd have (in terms of killer). I know that's probably not accurate, it's just what I personally like to think.

their perks and killer power is literally the same as the same as the survivor's

Legendary character for certain characters could have some relation with the perks of the main characters, either because of their personality or occupation, Lisa and Cybill are veterans of terror since they endured the horrors of Silent Hill while the perks and killer power of the Oni works well on the Minotaur. this is great potential to add more.

For example of an idea concept, if there was an IT Chapter and they want to have a legendary survivor, I can see Ben being a Legendary cosmetic for Felix because they're both Architects and Felix's perks would fit with Ben, or if there is a FNAF chapter, they can have Foxy (or The Pirate) as a Legendary for the Blight since they both dash forward when they attack (though for that to work, they need to have unique animations for the Fox, if they can change the idle for Cheryl, I think they can do that as well.)

the concept of Legendary character means that they can bring more than two characters into DBD without adding more perks and powers that would more likely break the game or make them useless

  • I mean, I think they don't do in-game dialogue because most of the voice actors are actually the developers of the game, Dwight is the same as one of the Sound Designers while Laurie is voiced by one of the producers. I think most of them have little experience in voice acting, so grunts, moans and screams are passable for their voices, just not in dialogue because it would result in horrible acting.

The only non-DBD developers voice actor at the top of my head is Ash, who is voiced by the actor who played him, Bruce Campbell.

in-trials do not work because their voices could be heard by the killer, which is a good reason why they're silent most of the time, and with proof of the voice lines of Ash, yeah, lobby dialogue would be more of a mess then actual dialogue.

  • I'm just saying this,

I don't think Silent Hill is in the Entity Realm or have a long term plan to trick the Entity using Cheryl as the key, if you're suggesting that.

I think after looking over the memories of those who been in Silent Hill, it then attempt to make a replica of Silent Hill rather than taking the whole thing, so while the realm of Silent Hill appears as it is and have similar powers of the place, it's not exactly Silent Hill, just ones based on memories.

after it abducted Pyramid Head, Cheryl, Lisa and Cybil, it then left the Silent Hill universe to search for another universe, meaning that they are far away from Silent Hill for it to try and do anything against the Entity.

like I said, the Entity is a very powerful being, and capable of overpowering even the most powerful dark things in the different universes, including the mysterious effects and powers of Silent Hill.

  • okay, now I can do more of this

Wraith - would be completely confused and still do his own thing

Hillbilly - he would stay inside his now abandoned home and become terror to nearby people

Shape - go back to Haddonfield to find Laurie, only to realize she's not there (I assume Survivors are still in the Entity Realm) and just kill random people

Doctor - after finding out that Léry was shut down, he would resume his experiments in secrets, but eventually get caught and arrested

Huntress - she would continue to be the Huntress monster legend that she had been back then, she would discover new things and adapt to her new surroundings to murder people and take little girls like she did previously

Cannibal - he would be completely confused and found out that his family is gone, he tries to do things himself and find a new family that are also cannibals

Clown - he would still do this thing only more difficult and quickly arrested

Legion - realizing that the nightmare is over, they try to go back to their normal lives, the incident happened years ago and they try to move on, they eventually disband and go onto their separate ways, living in poverty and low end jobs to try and survive, while at least one of them would commit crime

Ghost Face - he would still be wanted and arrested, but he would try to go from town to town killing people

Demogorgon - the events of Stranger Things 37 where the Demogorgon is back and terrorize Hawkins, only to face a now older and more experienced Eleven who one shots it with her mind

Deathslinger - discovering the new world, he would make himself a new identity and try to understand the latest technology, but end up spending his days understanding things and living a low life until he dies of natural causes

Executioner - he would do what it intended to do before getting adducted, sleep forever because he's already done his living purpose.

Blight - he's too insane to realize he's in the real world and end up in an asylum, spending his days going mad and believing he's still in the Entity's realm

  • "The only thing I can't figure out, lore wise....is why would Silent Hill allow The Entity to take Cheryl considering who she is to the powers that be. Unless...Silent Hill is just using her as a potential doorway into The Entity's realms? I'm just guessing with that one. There is so much Lore around Silent Hill that you cannot find unless you dive deep into it and REALLY search for it. What you see on the surface is not the whole story. There is a lot more hidden that you have to actually find and piece together yourself. One of the reasons I love Silent Hill."

I would love to think that the Entity has more power of Silent Hill and after learning about Cheryl and her being able to survive the horrors of the town, it made her a perfect target for the Entity. the very same reason it took Bill, Ash and Laurie, they're survivors.

as for which Pyramid Head the Entity taken, I would assume the one with the big sword.

  • Pyramid Head comes form the guilt of James and only James can see him, it's possible that the Entity probe Jame's mind and memories during the events of Silent Hill 2 and saw Pyramid Head, then using his memories, the Entity manifested Pyramid Head into its realm, and because the Entity can see Pyramid Head, so can everyone else because they're inside the Entity's realm.

the Entity can put Pyramid Head into its realm without adducting James. so yeah, no, James isn't in the Entity Realm.

  • sounds like something I would like to try, but since you said 2020, that means they are at risk of getting Convid-19, but let's just pretend they appeared where they died in 2020 and all of their realities, the pandemic never happened

also if you the killers who 'died' by the ones in close death before taken by the Entity, then that will put not include those who were still around and just taken. so that only means, Nurse, Hag, Nightmare (died before being taken), Pig, Spirit, Plague and Oni. (also I realized most of the female killers in DBD were at the edge of death before getting taken by the Entity, didn't notice that till now)

Nurse, Hag, Spirit and Plague - due to their injuries/diseases/fatal conditions, they would die seconds after returning back to their world, the Entity and the realm is what's keeping them alive.

Nightmare - he would show up in a the place he died and know he's out of the realm, only around ten years has passed for him, he would continue where he picked off and kill Nancy, then after he would continue to haunt Springwood, murdering and [REDACTED] children and teenagers.

Pig - she would wake up at the place she died and notice that John's body is gone, believing that she survived the nightmare and think that she is the true Jigsaw killer, she would resume the Game, but would soon get caught and arrested because security had increased since the last 20 years

Oni - he would wake up in a different place with strange things around him, with several things that he doesn't understand, from all the confusion, he'll go on a murdering rampage, killing anyone he sees until the cops show up and put him down.

if you meant where they were ADUCTED, then you should of said that, not all of the killers died, they were just taken, the ones I mentioned did died, but once again, not all of the killers were killed before taken by the Entity.

  • yeah, I like to believe that Legendary characters consider characters who ended up in the Entity Realm

Lisa entered the realm near her time of death, similar to Tapp

according to Cybil's head cosmetic description, she is in the fog, meaning that she was taken in the realm during the events of Silent Hill 1

Don't forget the Minotaur, he's also in the realm, he was manifested from the memories of survivors remembering the Greek legend

  • Okay, I'm just going to say the time periods of where each killer is from, based on what I seen and reading yours

NOTE: these are estimates and I could be wrong on certain killers, I'm just guessing, also I'm not saying how old they are, but rather what era they're from when they were taken, and I'm saying this based on quick research, looking at your comment and their appearance.

Trapper - according to a calendar in the Ironworks of Misery map, it's dated in the 1970s (forgotten the certain date, but I remember it saying that) so it's most likely he's from the 1970s

Hillbilly - I would say around 1960s - 1970s, in his memories, he had interest in TV

Wraith - when Phillip was a kid, Nigeria was formed, which (if I read the wiki correctly) was in the 1960s, meaning that grown up Wraith would be around 1980s to 1990s

Nurse - during war times, so around 1920s to 1940s

    Shape - he's from the 1970s

Hag - based on the cutscene and the clothes, Hag seems to be from the 1970s

Doctor - based on the date on the map description and the look of the map, I say between 1970s to 1980s

Huntress - from WW1 times so late 1910s

Cannibal - according to what I read, he's from late 1960s to early 1970s

    Nightmare - he's from late 2000s

    Pig - she's from 2000s

Clown - he was born in 1932, and since one of his add-ons is 'VHS Porn' that means he's somewhere between 1980s - 1990s

Spirit - I can see her being from the 1990s to 2000s

    Legion - they're from the 1990s

Plague - she's from the Babylonian times so that's 1800s BC to 1500s BC (according to quick research)

Ghost Face - according from the news report on his backstory, he's from the 1990s

    Demogorgon - it's from the 1980s

Oni - he is Spirit's Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather, using a rough estimate of each great as 30 - 50 (plus 60 - 100 for father and grandfather) that would put him around 1700s - 1800s

Deathslinger - he's from old western times, so that's around the 1860s - 1890s (according to quick research)

Executioner - according to quick research on Silent Hill timeline, he would be in the 1990s

Blight - based on his clothes and the fact that the East India Company was still a thing, it's most likely he's from the Victorian era so around 1840s to 1860s

  • HE'S

    TOO

    HE

  • What do you think 'Entity Displeased' means?

I like to think that if a killer doesn't do their job, they get punished, being mentally tortured to drive them into doing better.

and if a kill constantly refusing or failing at their job, then they are either turned into a survivor or sent to the Void.

this isn't canon btw, this is how I think what happens, I really don't know what happens if a killer fails at meeting the requirements in the trials

  • The Entity make the maps from the memories of survivors/killers and sometimes memories might be not strong enough that it cannot conjure up new realms or places, Cannibal has a lot of things in his mind and he doesn't seem to be someone who memorizes places. Ghost Face only been in Roseville for a few months and go to different houses to make his kills, so probably not enough to make a replica of the town, and the Blight's mind is so messed up that the Entity would end up making a nightmarish mixture of unrealistic horror if it tired to make a realm from the Blight's mind.

also the Clown had been travelling that there wouldn't be a place for him to remember, which is why his carnival is at a realm from the Nurse's memories

Small nitpicking here: 'prehistoric' usually describes everything from before the iron age iirc, so, Plague isn't from 'prehistoric' times

    oh, I didn't know that

I thought 'prehistoric' means anything from BC, my mistake

Yeah but I never got real deep into the lore till recently

dude, Plague is from pre-historic times, Deathslinger is from western times and the fact that licensed chapters exist, it's a no brainer that the Entity can adduct people from different time periods

this is common knowledge for DBD player even if you don't look into much of the game's lore

  • I mean, the Entity still make the flowers, it's just that Talbot is now transformed and turned blighted, so there won't be any blight outfits from killers that arrived at the realm after his transformation.

but that doesn't mean they can't do blight outfits for next year, it's just that the story about the blight is now done and we know what happens every Halloween, there can still be outfits for Deathslinger and Oni, and heck, maybe if we're lucky, we could get licensed blight outfits for licenses just like we had for the Ghost Face, I can see one for each killer except from Freddy, I would be happy to see a blight outfit for the Demogorgon, the Pig or the Executioner.

but let's just see what they do for next year's Halloween when we come to it

  • I mean, what is there to talk about? the grunts and screams are pretty much enough for this game, and the Observer talking makes sense since he tells memories and logs for us to know more about the game's lore.

Also the only actual character Dialogue is from Ash in the lobby, and his is mostly 'ahh, what now?' or 'who's sh*tting in the tall grass?' which makes me think that having in-game dialogue might not be a good idea

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1701522#Comment_1701522

Gotta look up some quotes, but there seems to be more talk about what survivors and killers can and can't do.

it could be possible that if survivors managed to escape from the trials, they keep their memories, it's only when they're killed or sacrificed that they lose their memories all the way to the moment when they were adducted.

it's possible that survivors could escape more than once and learn more about the realm and did some things before they were killed.

Killers (the ones who are willing to kill for the Entity) obviously keep their memories and see survivors as those to torment.

  • Well Bill Cipher is a Dream Demon like Freddy, based on what I read on his lore, Bill Cipher would most likely be aware of the Entity if they encounter and realized he's in its realm even if the Entity replicate familiar scenery.

the Entity would overpower Bill Cipher and can force him into killer for the trials if it wanted to.

If Bill Cipher became a killer, he would become weaker and limit his abilities. if the Entity managed to do that with Freddy then he can do that to Bill as well

and just for thought for food, I can see Bill Cipher having the ability to take over survivor's mind and use their bodies to attack other survivors, gameplay wise, it would either be overpowered or he would be the worst killer, but who cares? nobody wants Bill Cipher in DBD.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

The entity removed their ability to speak and they are genuinely trying to taunt the killer. Probably.

then how come Ash can talk?

  • let my try to see the killer's motive or how they became killers

    Trapper - tortured and manipulated

    Wraith - tortured and manipulated

Hillbilly - already a killer and manipulated

    Nurse - mutated and tortured

    Shape - already a killer

    Hag - mutated after death

Doctor - already a killer and possibly manipulated

    Anna - already a killer

Cannibal - already a killer and tortured

Nightmare - already a pedo killer

    Pig - tricked after death

Clown - already a killer and prefer to stay

Spirit - killed, saved and manipulated

Legion - just became killers and prefer to stay

    Plague - saved and manipulated

Ghost Face - already a killer and prefer to stay

    Demogorgon - controlled monster

Oni - already a killer and saved

Deathslinger - already a killer and manipulated

    Executioner - controlled monster

Blight - manipulated into a killer

though in short terms, if they have white eyes, chances are they are being manipulated by the Entity and they're not seeing the survivors as they are but as those they want dead.
