They are fixing the bug after two weeks and extending the event by one
Could have just released the cakes in a fixed state and made the event only one week, and we'd have a similar result

Not all perks are equally strong, but none are broken

I don't agree with 4 and I don't find 5 to be an issue, but 1,2 and 3 are on point.
BHVR's problems can be summed up as:
Ineffective bug fixing processes
Complete lack of communication and disregard for the community
Prioritizing new content over stable / properly running / fixed content

It's basic game theory
If you use them, you profit (+140, for you)
If everyone saves them, everyone profits (+104 from your cake, +416 from the others)
As the overall gain is much better with the second option , if not necessarily all but a large percentage of the playerbase save their cakes, everyone wins - a lot.

Several notes on this:
1) The devs HAVE to change their QA environment. They fail to detect the most obvious and simplest of bugs
2) The devs should change their priorities and bug fixing process. I bet they are hard at work with new content, but bugs should get a higher priority and the process should be streamlined to allow quicker bugfixing
3) Bugs like this should be announced by the devs, in-game. For example, they could be mentioned in the "news" tab. And then, once it's fixed, they can get the word out the same way.
