I think if the concept is going to be four killers as one then the power needs to be complicated and the killers distinct in some way. Minor buffs to different parts of the power to make them somewhat unique. They do not need to be overly different like Frank's and Susie's examples. Minor buffs also make them easier to balance then the mess of today.
Having all four in one trial seems more complicated and difficult to implement.

Same as currently with the cosmetics you choose. However we would need a base cosmetic for Joe and Susie
