You know how in a dream, you see someone you know, but of course they aren't actually them, they're merely your mind's representation of them? I think that's what it's like for the Entity. The Survivors and Killers are not truly present in some strange dimension: nobody's soul that has been taken. The characters we play as are merely the daydreams of some individual (The Entity = The Dreamer) who imagines what it would be like for people like (emphasis on the word "LIKE") the Survivors and Killers to go through these hypothetical trials.
That's why the trials are so shallow and unrealistic but terrifying and attention-grabbing: They're like a Nightmare. The Entity's realm is the Dreamer's Dream. And like any Dream/Nightmare, they don't make sense rationally once you wake up, but when you're in them they're real enough to make you feel something real. The Dreamer is entertained by the trials, and so they think about them some more.
The survivors (and killers) are works of fiction. Not only to us, but also to in-universe DBD fiction. Everything we see is the imagination of the Dreamer/Entity, inventing fictional characters to run through trials with their vivid imagination.
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk. I don't do drugs.
It’s a cool theory but it just doesn’t line up. In some of the killers lore, the killer and entity have a way of almost communicating. Also In the archives, the narrator implies that they’ve been with the entity for a very long time. They also state that the entity most likely does these trials so it can survive, the pain and torture is essentially its food. Also, in blight and spirits backstory, they actually meet the entity while not being in the realms. Even if the lore is just made up in someone’s mind, it doesn’t seem very likely. So while it is a really cool theory, it would make more sense to assume that the entity is just a powerful being that tortures people in its own twisted version of reality, than to assume all of this is just in someone’s mind.

Mori was not “nerfed into oblivion”. It’s still quite powerful. If you are struggling to get kills without a mori, that has nothing to do with balance, and instead, has to do with lack of skill (most of the time). Keys have been acknowledged, but will take much much longer since they need an entirely different mechanic.

I really like the idea of the killers power! I wouldn't think it's particularly balanced but it is a really good concept. Also, I do like the perks with it too and the theme although one seems to be fire up v2 :P
Thank you! I would love some input on how to balance perks, I’m still learning game design and I’ve seen some of your concepts, so hopefully you could help. And yes, growing flame was meant to be another fire up. I wanted for there to be a perk like fire up, but it doesn’t require gens to be done. Of course anything fitting with the theme of growing power with your presence would fit nicely aswell.

This is so cool! One of the best concepts I’ve seen by far. I’m trying to make good concepts too but no one ever reads them lol. Nice artwork too, def gonna support that artist

Hm, ok. Sounds good, last question until I move on to perks, does she make a sound when she’s using her power like spirit? The terror radius isn’t directional so it would still be hard to balance it out so it’s fair. I really do think that there should be some sort of down side to her power, so survivors can have a chance to know where to go. Every killer has some sort of way to let you know they’re there, so it might be a little unfair to just have her pop up out of nowhere.

That’s an interesting idea, does she get anything out of channeling fully? Like a speed boost, or does she get a stun like fatigue. It would kinda be over powered of she stood right behind you and came out of her power naturally as well. So what sort of bonuses would be added to her power?

Ok so just to be clear, what exactly are you trying to accomplish here?
If they can't see her then there is no point in looking around, this isn't like the wraith where you can kinda see her anyways.
Are you saying there should be an audio component in addition to the visual one?
Sorry, I misunderstood. Do you mean they can see her fully? Or more like figments of her like new Freddy/wraith when she’s channeling
-
this Would make survivors have to listen for her channel and force them to look around, similarly to the lullaby the huntress sings. This could make them not be able to complete objectives as fast and would also give them quite the scare lol.

ok, how about when the shimmer channels their power, instead of seeing her you can hear her somewhat loudly. I just think this would help a little bit

idk, this kinda sounds like a fusion of wraith and spirit...its a cool idea though, just needs some changes
