Hello Renzun!
I was reading your post, and I agree with a lot of your ideas! Some of them, I feel, if they were implemented, would be a healthy change to the game.
"The lack of separation between 'competitive' and 'casual' play creates a "?" variable in every game."
I think separating the current pool of players and adding a ranked mode would be a nice change for everyone. The competitive players will have a mode to take the game seriously, and the more casual players can just relax and test out their meme builds if they would like. Of course, I can see some players saying that queue times would be significantly longer, but the trade-off is better quality games for everyone. For example, a game like Overwatch has multiple modes where you can chill with friends in quick play or take a sweat fest and play ranked, not to mention a ton of other fun game modes in arcade and custom. If Dead by Daylight can implement something like this, I really do think it would help distinguish the player base.
"The "powercreep" is out of hand."
I think DBD should touch up some of their more useless perks, for example, This is not happening or Premonition." Perks that, in my own words, suck ass to run I feel as if if they did this, it would give players more choices of perks to run instead of sticking to the same boring combinations. DBD has done this where they try to shake up a stale meta and do a whole perk rework in a patch, and I applaud them for doing so. My problem is that if a perk is really strong, they will leave it in a broken state for months and do nothing to fix it. (FRICKING MFT!!!!) DBD should be more diligent in balancing their perks more often and reworking old ones to make them a viable option.
"Other than aesthetics and injury sound, there is nothing special or unique about survivors."
True! Other than what you said and the lore, there is absolutely nothing special about each survivor. They all play the same and move the same. Maybe adding a class system or a skill tree where certain trees have unique playstyles you can pick from would be a nice change. For example, in Borderlands 3, they have a skill tree system that a character can spec into, and it completely changes the way that character plays. Zane from BL3 has three skill trees, where each would specialize in damage, sustain, and burst. In DBD, they can add a skill tree where you can spend bloodpoints to get tiny bonuses like 10% quieter breathing, or if you're an altruistic player, a minor boost to healing, etc. They can do so much to make it more personalized. Before we agree to disagree, I know that perks currently do this: you can choose a build, and it alters how you play. Yes, but adding skill trees is just a better way, IMO, to make characters stand out.
" The objective has become stale and underwhelmingly rewarded. In my SwF groups, most of my games end with us giving the killer a 4K because sitting on a generator and holding M1 is not entertaining or rewarding."
It's a sad truth. Holding M1 is such a boring thing to do to progress the game in order to meet the win condition. How about adding unique quests in order to progress the game, like making it so you have to interact with some of the environment? Cleansing all 5 totems boosts your luck, and now you can unhook yourself from the 2nd state. (I know this sounds stupid, but just adding something new to progress the game is more fun, imo, than holding m1.)
Ignore my last post I did it as a meme T^T
