A lot of those perks you listed are usable in some builds. Dragon's grip in particular surprised me, it's an amazing way to discourage players from tapping gens. Or getting free downs out of it. But then again I always use zanshin tactics on trapper to find good pallets and vaults to trap 🤣

I play both roles roughly equally and I find survivor has so many dead perks that just aren't really useful at all. Most killer perks are at least ok.

I don't disagree. *I* use them in builds. It's just when I do I find myself doing contrived things in order to get value where other strats could get me those results with less hassle. Take Dragon's Grip. An Exposed hit is great, but what isn't is the cooldown. It's not just that it's 80 seconds, it's that it occurs whether a survivor touches the gen or not. Plus, it tends to be one of those "once they know the trick, they stop falling for it" situations that sadly happens with Mad Grit as well

Most perks are actually decent and synergize with either specific killers or with other perks

Problem is the strongest perks are way better than these, which is why you dont see them very often.

35 can look like a daunting number but when there's 71 perks that work just fine you've still got plenty to work with. And that's just my number

Your going to have to define "bad" as we get use out of a lot of odd perks like blood echo.

I mean I put bad in quotes since there's no one way to define a bad perk. The preferences bit was just to maybe get people to be more realistic with their assessment of what is and isn't bad

  • I mean this just seems like making a mountain out of a molehill since

    1. The aesthetic of horror isn't so monotone as to just be "dark and gloomy." In fact, one of the maps you cite as less scary now (Coldwind) is literally a reference to Texas Chainsaw, a horror movie that's touted as one of the greats for showing you daytime isn't some "time-out" from the horror

    2. The title Dead by Daylight means very little. It's a reference to the subtitle of Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn. Plus, if you wanna get pedantic, survivors don't "die" so they can't be Dead by Daylight ™️©️ anyway

    3. Since those two map reworks happened there have been dark and gloomy maps and killers to enjoy. I mean those came out in 2020-2021. RPD and Garden of Joy had come out in that time, they just made both Red Forest maps and Shelter Woods even gloomier and darkerer, and depending on what you define as a "scary" killer, we got like 6 of em. Hell, people loved Dredge and said it was their favorite killer design-wise and he's right up your alley.

    4. I'm very curious how SM is a "Mary Sue." At least, enough of a "Mary Sue" to be called out as one. Being exceptional is a part of most of the characters' lore in DBD. Like these people get opportunities left and right and are basically the best at what they do. SM is no exception

Creatively, DBD is doing fine. Gameplay is my main concern at the moment.

  • I think it's pretty bad. Having to hit a survivor to get it is a cute lil activation requirement, no notes there. The great skill check is bad tho. Not to say that nobody's hitting great skill checks, just that very few are unless they have a build around hitting them, which you can't deduce before or during a game. Not to mention when it does activate it tends to either be 1. info you already knew 2. info you can't just drop everything to capitalize on and 3. info a more synergistic perk could've given you like Surveillance, new Eruption or BBQ.

There are just more enticing options out there for info perks that Gearhead seems pointless

  • I do think survivors should be able to 3 gen themselves if they aren't paying attention, but killer being able to maintain a 3 gen from match start and be rewarded for it against most survivors is stupid.

They could start by nuking Azarov's Resting Place and Suffocation Pit because those maps always feel like "3 Gen or Lose"

  • It's neat on stealth killers. I think of it like Bloodhound: sure it's a bit underwhelming compared to other perks but it does it's job and if it got buffed before somethin like Furtive Chase, Territorial Imperative or Beast of Prey, I'd be really confused and a bit annoyed

  • If you're playin SM and running the Haste and break speed add-on then the build is great, Enduring included. But ya could mess around with it by focusing on one aspect of the obsession build a bit.

Like PWYF could use Dark Devotion in place of Enduring. Enduring won't be gaining you stacks of PWYF while DD plays into the hit and run style that gets you those stacks while supporting your stealth alongside Nemesis and your drones.

Nemesis could use Furtive Chase and Lethal in place of PWYF and Enduring. Pitiful as the perk is, Furtive actually works with Nemesis as Nemesis's effect procs on any obsession change. You'll be getting procs on stuns, hits on the most chased non-obsession, and obsession unhooks. Plus Lethal will turn Nemesis's 4 sec aura read into a 6 sec one.

I think Game Afoot kinda steps on the toes of PWYF a lil, but I've literally never used Game Afoot so I'm not the best judge. Seems like you could throw out PWYF and Nemesis for Brutal and STBFL to really end chases quick against obsessions made by Game Afoot. Then again, Game Afoot almost steps on STBFL's toes more than PWYF's and SM does have that aforementioned break speed add-on so unless you wanna delete pallets the build doesn't need Brutal. Thwack and Lethal could work but Thwack's once per hook limit makes it seem so boring. Idk like I said I think ya did a great job with the initial build. Would try it if it didn't require me to grind for shards to get SM
