Thats not what people mean by second chance. They mean they won the chase yet were forced to lose it due to a perk or mechanic

The problem, however, is that these perks don't work in any ordinary chase.

If you get pulled off the hook, you're injured, and you're likely in an area where there's reduced resources due to the last chase. If the killer is on you right after, you were never going to get a proper chase to begin with, that's the killer short-circuiting the normal gameplay.

    'They won the chase'

If these perks come into play, they more likely won half a chase and expect to reap the full reward. These perks just reset to normal. If you're smashing your face into all these anti-tunnel perks and getting hit by all of them, maybe the problem isn't the anti-tunnel perks. Maybe the problem is you.

These perks are incredibly avoidable and incredibly easy to nullify, but apparently it's easier to bash your head into the wall and then complain to behaviour that the bricks hurt too much.

The only one that can be argued for is OTR, and I have made a suggestion about reworking it in the past, but I think in general, killers have decided that they'd rather hang on to tunnelling irrespective of the consequences for the rest of the game.

Again, if you are eating every single anti-tunnel perk, that is a choice that you made as killer.

It's like driving down a dead-end road after passing a 'dead end' sign, then passing three more 'dead end' signs and going "This signage has really gotten out of hand".

Survivors regularly use defensive perks offensively. You have to try to not hit a recently unhooked survivor because they use their basekit BT, OTR, and/or DH to block for the rescuer. Then they become the best choice to chase and boom, you get hit with DS.

You can't absolve survivors of their part in this.

It really is far longer than people realize.

    Its:

    • 2.7 second wipe animation
    • 3 second pickup animation
    • ~10 seconds to walk to a hook
    • 1.5 second hooking animation.

That's a full 17 seconds, and that is assuming you immediately pick up the survivor, and you don't take a quick second to make sure there isn't someone coming in for the save. All this occurs after what is probably a 30-45 second chase which occurs after about 10-20 seconds hunting the survivors.

When you really break down the numbers, it makes you wonder how survivors ever lose a match. If a killer takes 60 seconds to chase and hook a survivor, the survivors could have completed 180 seconds worth of generators out of the 450 (base) seconds of total generator progress needed. Remember, that 450 seconds can be divided by 4 and completed concurrently.

And if you assume 60 seconds for the total time of a killer finding a survivor, chasing them, and hooking them, it takes a killer 540 seconds to get their first kill without tunneling (2 hooking all survivors, which is what they want) and 720 seconds to get a 4k. And unlike the survivors, this time is cannot be divided. The killer must go through it all, unless the survivors make serious mistakes.

  • I log onto a multiplayer game to play with other people. I have no desire to vs. AI. If I want to do that, I'll go play Elden Ring again.

    'Second chance perks'

Survivors are innately supposed to have THREE chances. The fact that some killers have a meltdown over survivors getting a -second- chance is telling, in and of itself.

Second chance perks mean anything that gives a survivor an extra health state. It should be chase > hit > chase > down > pick up > hook. Instead it can be chase > hit > chase > hit > chase > down > pick up > get stunned by flashlight/bugged flashbang/pallet/DS > chase > down > pick up > wiggle off due to sabo play/abusing boil over and bad hook spawn/breakout > chase > down > pickup > hook.

    It's gotten out of hand.

You've had a long break and then returned to the game on a platform you're unfamiliar with. Your opponents meanwhile have neither just come off a long break and are likely playing on platforms they're very familiar with. I'd have been surprised if you'd actually won.

Correct. I didn't expect to win. After a long break though supposedly the matchmaking system is supposed to match you against lower MMR players so you can re-familiarize yourself with the game. This didn't even come close to happening. That's why it was frustrating. Even if I had been playing on controller and been playing regularly I might not have been able to win. These were very skilled survivors.

  • This happened to me too. I get Empathy, Poised, or Deliverance in so many builds.

  • A perk randomizer would be a great option.

  • I hate to say it but I agree. Limiting it to the 5 original killers is such a massive let down.

On the bright side though they did say they plan on adding more killers in future versions of 2v8.
