What you’re probably seeing is the survivor gets hit by a possessed chain, 3 chains spawn, 1 or 2 get broken very quickly by the environment, and then 1 or 2 additional chains spawn to target them.
When a survivor uses the environment to break a chain, an additional chain will spawn that targets them. I’ve had it happen before where I hit a survivor with possessed chain and 2 of the chains immediately get broken by the environment, causing 2 more to come out and target the survivor, so that’s probably what’s going on.
Try hitting a survivor with a possessed chain out in the open with no walls around and you’ll see 3 chains spawn on them. If not, it might be a glitch or maybe you have the engineer’s fang addon equipped. Hope this helps!

It’s entirely possible and actually very doable, but I’ve been playing this game for years and I’ve seen BHVR’s track record. When they release a bad chapter it takes them a LOOOOOOONG time to deliver the bare minimum changes needed.
Examples: it’s been years and The Twins are still miserable to play as or against. It took 2 years for them to rework Freddy’s awful power back in 2019. They took 5 years to let Trapper hold 2 traps. Onryo is still horrible to play as unless going for Condemned only.
The most likely outcome is that nothing really changes until a few years down the line when BHVR decides they have some extra free-time to put some effort into fixing a killer and they do it…. unless the community comes together and really speaks up on this one and lets them know that we’re not going to put up with them releasing lazy and soulless expansions meant to take money from us and deliver on actual decent content until years down the road.

I kinda feel like everyone who got so invested in the idea of a cyborg/cybernetic killer that they became convinced it was definitely coming has nobody to blame but themselves. It was a cool idea, but it was just one possibility of what the teasers could mean- basically just a guess.
BHVR are not to blame here.
Respectfully, I personally disagree. In the trailer BHVR obviously teased us with the idea of body being fused with technology in a creepy way with the skull that had blinking lights/electrical components. Turns out that the new killer just has them on her drones for decorative purposes, as she could easily use metal or some other material to hold the wiring and components of the drone.
We see this futuristic trailer and then get a killer where part of her weapon is attached to her arm with…… duct tape :(
BHVR releases a trailer with a creepy skull/mechanical abomination and then we get a killer with a karen haircut and a bedazzled mask that looks like it came from a runway model fashion show.
There’s a reason why nobody has complained about a killer’s design since The Trickster was released YEARS AGO. Even then, it was mostly just because people thought that he just wasn’t all that scary, not that he had a bad design, unlike with The Skull Merchant.

I agree with your criticisms of the chapter, but I disagree in the sense that the Devs didn't at least try.
I think they just churned out something mediocre despite their best expectations. I don't think any dev team plans on their content to be terrible or low effort, I'd argue that they played it safe with this chapter, which sucks because the best decisions come from big risks.
I do hope they improve her kit and provide her the desperate QoL she needs, or at least, a better more functioning rework that addresses the community's complaints. I personally would've loved to see more of the theme of technological augmentation to egregious extremes, but unfortunately, waifu bait is a go to for selling product even if in terms of overall character design, it doesn't make sense.
I think the easiest place where this is displayed is League of Legends, for instance. A lot of the time it's a skinny waist and busty frame with petite clothes, typically meant to draw appeal to the character. That being said, I think sexualization does have place in a character design, so long as it's practically applicable and adds value to the character. Take, Evelynn, a seductress who's entire schtick is innuendos. Or, Bayonetta; who's sexual up-frontedness is part of the fact that the character radiates confidence and owns it. Here with TSM, it's misplaced and impractical.
TLDR: I think devs do try to put out good things, it's just that this time it sucked. I hope BHVR listens to the community and gives her the QoL she needs and I think that her design was played too safe and was slightly sexualized for waifu bait which detracted value from a pretty boring design.
E1: I think it wouldn't hurt to listen to the community more. I would've loved to see a cybernetic horror rather than some billionaire that threw on a mask and claw. Booooring!
I see what you’re saying. You definitely make some good points. I probably should’ve worded my post a bit differently. I would find it hard to imagine a developer making this chapter and saying “I don’t care, let’s just get it done”. So they do deserve some credit for the things that they did right (such as the cool Shelter Woods rework, drones are kind of cool being made out of a skull, etc).
I think a better way to phrase it is that the devs didn’t care enough to actually listen to player feedback from the previous chapter and they also didn’t take the time to think about how certain things would be received by the community. For example, people are still complaining about how The Knight’s design makes it so that he is best suited for stalling the game in a 3 gen situation, slowly wearing survivors down with gen kicking perks until one mistake dominos into them losing the game; BHVR didn’t listen and made a new killer with the same type of design, and survivors really hate playing against her.
I will still stand by my original argument that the devs were straight up lazy with the killer’s visual design and animations, though; no excuse for how bland and uninspired they are. For visual design they obviously got the idea to do the mask like Kano from Mortal Kombat (metal covering part of the face with 1 red glowing eye) and Predator’s gauntlet blade. The animations are a similar story. She’s got a futuristic exo-arm that’s probably very strong but kicks pallets and gens with her foot the exact same way most other killers do it? She obviously likes slashing as evidenced by the new mannequins in Shelter Woods but her mori is a single backstab that looks exactly like Freddy’s mori?

I’ve seen more hackers/cheaters than I can count, but that’s not even the main problem. The cheaters you see teleporting and running at ridiculous speeds are a minority compared to the players who use cheats that are hard to notice, such as moving 5% faster, unhooking faster, healing fast without any healing speed perks, etc.
It’s like how you see the tip of an iceberg but the majority is underwater where you can’t see it. There’s so many cheaters running around and Behavior barely does anything about it. They’re too busy taking away Dowsey’s cosmetics and ignoring community feedback.

Former killer main here. I just stopped playing the game altogether. If Behavior is going to treat one side of their community like trash, I’m not going to just switch sides; I’m going to leave the game like so many other people have done. I tried playing a game of killer again today and went up against the sweatiest and most toxic survivors. I miss when this game was fun.

The “new” MMR system is not any better at all. If you told me that Behavior just made it all up when they said that they tweaked the system, I would 100% believe you. Every single game is sweaty survivors with the same builds (DH, Unbreakable, Prove Thyself, COH, etc), same items, and same toxic tendencies to teabag you when you haven’t tunneled or camped anyone.

Then you're probably at a pretty high MMR.
If you want to chill, play chill. Your MMR will eventually adjust.
Aside from SBMM issues caused by queue dodging, it's a lot better than ranks were.
I disagree. I play at a low-ish MMR because I constantly let survivors escape on purpose (I get 2 hooks on everyone and let them escape out of exit gates) and still get extremely sweaty survivors running the best perks, items, and addons you can think of.
In fact, I once played 30 games of Doctor where I let EVERY survivor escape (that’s 120 survivor escapes) and then started playing normally, and there was not a single difference in the survivor skill. MMR does not adjust the way you think it does. The system quite simply doesn’t work, and I’ve heard the same thing from everyone else I’ve talked to about this topic.

Yeah, Behavior said that they just did matchmaking fixes to create more balance and variety in players’ matches but that is completely lies. All the matches I’ve been getting are completely unbalanced and there is absolutely no difference I’ve seen in the before and after these so-called matchmaking “fixes”. No wonder the game is dying.

Just to add even more evidence to my claim: I just played a game as Huntress to complete a daily challenge. I have played DBD for 3 years and have only played Huntress 6 times (this game being my 6th game as her). I’ve lost every single game I’ve ever played as her.
The survivor group I got paired up with was a 4 man SWF where every single one of them was iridescent (one of them was a rank 1 survivor). 3 of them were running green medkits w/ addons, one of them with a commodious toolbox w/ addons, 3 of them running Boon: Circle of Healing, 2 people running Prove Thyself, and every single one of them running Borrowed Time.
I obviously got destroyed. They knew how to run tiles, spin, and just play well in general. It’s simply not possible that they were anywhere close to my MMR. Behavior has lied to us about how the system works to match people up together.
It’s a shame that you can’t expect honesty from them in terms of game mechanics. With all this continual lying on behalf of Behavior, VHS will overtake DBD in no time.
