Imo that is just to force you to use certain weapons or tactics. Its really no issue at all. Players are just super inflexible and always cry about buhuhu this is unfair, because they seem to only be able to use one playstyle. Its not unfair. You just use the wrong strategy. I mean if its like you described a single enemy you are obviously supposed to melee him or get close and shoot him into the wall instead of pushing him into the pit. You can even upgrade the crossbow which gives you like 12 arrows and together with the other one its 16 or more - don't quite remember. So this strategy becomes obsolete really quickly unless you are someone who tells themselves I HAVE to get that arrow back. I punish those people in my mazes as well, but they are never unfair, because you can't lose more than 6 and all are avoidable when you use the correct strategy.
Sure there are also these giant rooms with 20 enemy mobs, but you can use the speed boost and shield for these and rush through them and straight up ignore the players bullshit. I always loved to see giant rooms full of enemies, because those are usually super easy with the correct setup. So for these types of maps its the wrong approach to want to kill everything. I also dislike the idea of making it relying on accolades to much, because when people die a lot they don't give accolades for various reasons they made up in their head. "The map was to long, the map had to many corners, the map was unfair because of x". I might be wrong about the last part, but imo it would lead to you only see easy maps which look good on the surface, but are shallow, because people like those...I made a super barebones one for my first attempt and it got 0,5 kills on average. It had a nice looking devil face when you started the map tho and people gave it so many accolades lol. It had actually nearly 6 times more accolades than my other more elaborate maps even though it was actually boring design wise and gave nearly no rewards.

Honestly your edit is a great idea if you ask me. They could make the first 10-20? normal outposts a player encounters made by the devs themselves. So they can tune the difficulty curve. Pretty much a prolonged tutorial. Start with a super easy one and make it a tiny bit harder each step. That way they could also show some creative ways to show and use the different traps/mobs. So people gradually learn when they start new.

They should just make it so that you can "checkmark" the popup and tell the game to not show it again. Problem solved for both sides.

Well harvey has nothing to do with unfun maps per se.
Of course he does. He limits bullshit people can do. Imagine just creating a giant cube where you have to drop in from the top. Litter everything with lavaboxes and traps and make you have only small path to grapple through a giant maze littered with traps and mobs. Afterwards you would also have to get out again. Would be a massive pain in the ass.
Imo there are people who super creatively USE this limitation. Much better than people who create just one path. There are already nearly limitless possibilities its just harder to use and abuse harvey correctly so a lot of people fail at that part.
The one thing they should add tho is a bit more variety. Not sure how they could achieve that, but let harvey go up the "third" type of block where you build a small slope kind of thing. So make him a bit more flexible. They could also try to give the player special cubes that modify how harvey takes a path. Idk a warp cube or something like that, but can only be used once or twice per map. Something like that would be fine if tuned correctly.

Terrible solution if you ask me. I totally understand that some normal bases are hard for beginners, but that is how you learn the game. It would also not really solve your friends problem. There are constantly new bases made and the old ones would need some time to be adjusted. So your friend would still constantly run into to hard maps. It also just punish creative and good base builders. Once your Base is "bumped" a tier higher you effectively lose all value since nobody will have a problem with a hard base that has "normal" limitations. The creator would've to update the map like 3-5 hours after publishing it to make it usable and now ask yourself how realistic that is since maps are only active for 1,5 days. Imagine someone even ran the mode where you lose "money" when someone raids your location. You would be poor after you slept 8 hours and check on the game. In the end it would just lead to worse and even cheaper maps to be build, because people are scared that their maps get randomly bumped a tier up.
Considering this is the closed beta they will probably need a lot more data to optimize the difficulty recognition tool. They should optimize the recognition tool further in the future, because this is much more effective way to get better maps for your friend: That way it will detect more and more maps that are "to hard" to be considered normal.

I believe its intended. Your Bases need more and more kills to be reactivated(they run out after 1,5 days) and at a certain point you (probably) can't use them anymore. I am not at that point so not sure if that is true. I believe at that point you can only open them up for the social hub or if you want/need more space you can delete them. Doesn't it even ask you after a long button press if you really want to delete it? I don't think they can do much more here.

Ups wrong thread.
