  • Hi guys, I'm making a forums account just to add onto this thread. I encountered this error very early on like many of you. I am fortunate enough that they have actually regularly emailed me about the issue, but unfortunate in the sense that I know nothing more than any of you do. Anyways, I'll share my back and forth with BHVR employees about the matter. I'll be paraphrasing because I think straight copy and pasting the emails may come across as weird.

Just some context, I have tried literally every single troubleshooting fix on the planet (aside from reinstalling windows) which would have been a pointless ordeal to put myself through anyways. Many of you are right, it is %100 a PC Gamepass profile specific bug, and this checklist of troubleshooting steps I took (none of which fixed the problem) helps demonstrate why this is the case.

    - Soft restarted my PC.

    - Hard restart my PC (flip power supply switch, unplug fully, wait a few minutes, plug back in, power back on).

    - Tried launching Dead by Daylight with all other programs closed.

    - Tried launching Dead by Daylight directly from both the PC Game Pass application, and Microsoft Store rather than launching the game through a desktop shortcut. I even tried launching Dead by Daylight directly from its respective .exe file.

    - Updated all of my gpu drivers, window drivers, windows updates, audio drivers, microsoft store applications, etc (Literally everything is up to date).

    - Soft reset my router.

    - Hard reset my router (Unplug fully, wait a few minutes, plug back in, reconnect).

    - Tried both wired/wireless internet connections.

    - Performed an internet speed test (308.81mbps download, 342.76mbps upload).

    - Uninstall/Reinstall the game on 4 separate drives (1 NVME, 1 SSD, 2 HDDs).

    - Run the Dead by Daylight .exe file as an administrator.

    - Check if my antivirus was blocking Dead By Daylight (It wasn't, and I even manually added Dead by Daylight as an exception).

    - Tested other games on the same service (PC Gamepass/Microsoft Store). Every other game from this same application/storefront/launcher works as intended.

    - Verify and Repair Dead by Daylight via the PC Game Pass application's options.

    - Repaired the Dead by Daylight application via Windows settings applications & features.

    - Tested multiple accounts on the same version of Dead by Daylight (PC Gamepass), and all other accounts old/new work as intended.

    - Tested multiple versions of Dead by Daylight (Steam/Epic Games) on the same computer. All other versions of the game work as intended.

    - Tested signing into the account in question on a different computer, and was still met with the same error. Despite this seperate computer playing on other Dead by Daylight accounts as intended, on again the same service/version.

    - Finally, after researching extensively to find more information regarding this specific error code, other players suggested that I try capping my fps back to 60fps. As I am sure you are aware, many players edit the Game's configuration files respectively named "Engine" and "GameUserSettings" to uncap the game's fps to 120fps. I undid my previous game configuration file actions, tried running Dead by Daylight at 60fps, and I still received the same error. Behaviour Interactive employees have stated such actions are not bannable on multiple occasions. I have also seen no evidence to suggest that this account was banned in Dead by Daylight. Furthermore, I have also seen no evidence to suggest this account was possibly banned by Easy Anti-Cheat, as other games which also utilize Easy Anti-Cheat all still perform as expected.

As for BHVR's response, they accepted very quickly that considering all the troubleshooting steps that I went through, this clearly wasn't an individual issue. This was made aware to them about a day before this thread opened up, and many of you started reporting the same error. Like many of you, they asked that I send them my game logs; which I obliged.

Soon after, the BHVR representative informed me that I have exhausted all of their troubleshooting steps, and urged me to contact Xbox tech support and my internet service provider.

I was not happy with this response, as I know both support services would prove ineffective. I am a long time Xbox user, and I know firsthand how terrible/useless that customer service line really is. If BHVR thinks Xbox support would be helpful, they should contact them for us. I already spent 8 hours diagnosing the issue, I not doing any more work for them. At this point, they should put me on their payroll for doing their job for them. Furthermore, I do not see why my ISP would be able to help when it's literally not a network issue (can play on other xbox profiles, steam, epic). I was unwilling to do this last week, and still am unwilling to do this. I have better things to do than have my time wasted even more.

Anyways, I complained more and more each day I was unable to log onto my main account. This was followed by more and more apologies for the inconvenience. I even explained that PC Game Pass users were missing out on some much needed rift progression and blood point codes. I politely suggested that once the issue was resolved, that we receive some form of in game compensation. This suggestion was outright ignored (yay).

The last email I received was to inform me that, the team was still conducting an ongoing investigating for the issue. However, it was expected that the investigation in their words "could take a while," and that they would continue to update me with any additional information.

As for what I have been doing, I have just submitted to starting over, and playing on the Epic Games store version in the mean time. I cannot even tell you how unfair this all feels. Being subjected to Solo Q MMR Hell, unable to access my P66 Cheryl with every cosmetic, unable to access every perk in the game that I unlocked/bought, unable to redeem blood point codes, unable to access every character in the game that I unlocked/bought, likely will be unable to redeem the Twitch Prime reward for a free rift pass (Which I was so painfully excited for)... All of this took me +1,300 hours, and real hard earned money to acquire.

I just want to play my favorite game, on my main account guys, come on.
