Better to start a new poll or discussion rather than a necro'd thread from 3 years ago.
Agree to disagree. I think it's better to maintain a single hub of information. There are already comments in this thread that link to all the other threads about this. Also, given this poll is essentially a petition requesting a feature, people who took the time to respond should be given an update that the feature is in the game.
I also know this thread has been linked to multiple times over the years from other sites, so it'd be good if people who follow those links in the future landed on current information.
Thanks for your input though.

UPDATE: This change has been implemented by BHVR!
You can now use any charm on any character.
Thank you!!

There's no way they intentionally removed the ONLY alert that informs you the game started, right? Surely everyone with the game minimized SHOULD be informed when the game starts, right?
-
Thanks for reporting this, this is exactly what I came here to report as well. This is really annoying, I shouldn't have to stare at the loading screen for a full minute every game to know when the match starts.
-
Agreed. If nothing else, the player name and character name should be swapped. The player name is the important information that should be immediately visible. The character name is only secondary information.

Since the last time I checked this thread, I've come across several newer threads making the same request:

Why can't the Pig use the tape recorder which is literally her own add on?
There's no good reason we shouldn't be able to use charms on whichever character we like.
If I want to show that I play Pig I should be able to put Pig charms on Pig, or survivor, and it causes no harm to anyone at all. If I want to use a Nea scarecrow on Nea, or a bedsheet Wraith on Wraith, why not? No profit is lost, nothing.
It's just petty and unreasonable to keep charms separated from the characters we want them on.

It's kind of odd how certain charms are restricted to certain roles in the game. There are survivor only charms, killer only charms, and universal charms. Should all charms be available for both roles to use?
@[Deleted User] said:
Restricting certain charms to certain roles is completely pointless and restricts customization. And many charms that are usable for only one role still look perfectly thematic for the opposite role or even fit the opposite role better.
It’s all totally unnecessary and arbitrary.
I also noticed this much older thread making the same request:

If I want to play survivor and show that I'm a big fan of Pig and Plague with a little RBT or censer on my belt, what's the harm?
If I want to string 3 Claudettes from my hook as a warning to Blendettes everywhere, why not?
Charms shouldn't be divided into killer and survivor categories and only equippable by one or the other, they should be universal to express our personalities and the parts of the game/lore we love regardless of which side we're currently playing.
This seems like such a simple change that would make a large number of people happy. I wonder where the apparent resistance of the devs comes from. I don't believe it's really "survivors will look weird if they have such-and-such on their belt" because that's not true.
Charms are just a way for the player to communicate a small part of their personality. That shouldn't be arbitrarily restricted like this.

Imagine if the devs gave everyone an unexpected holiday surprise by removing this restriction within the coming weeks 🙂 That'd be pretty nice of them.

I don't see a reason to restrict them. The devs said it was weird for killers to have cute survivor charms on their hooks, but, like, it's weird that there's a charm economy in the Entity's realm. We're willing to suspend our disbelief on that because we know it's just players expressing themselves, so why not let them use any charm they want?
Exactly my sentiment. It's pretty clear that the charms are designed for players to express themselves. It doesn't make sense to arbitrarily restrict someone's ability to express themselves when they're playing one character and not another, based on which specific kinds of personal expression the devs deem to be "weird" for specific characters.

I cant really blame the art department on this. this is there best map so far looks wise. so unique. but balance and layoutss....
I still think RPD looks the best overall, but the new map is definitely aesthetic.

Guess I’m in the minority. Although I think some should be changed (like the gg charm) I think majority are fine the way they are, it would be a bit weird to have a survivor run around with a bucket of fingers for example.
Well, what you're really saying is that you would feel a bit weird if you were running around as survivor with a bucket of fingers. That's fair, to each their own. But if I saw a survivor with a tiny [insert any charm here] at their waist, I wouldn't think it was strange. I would assume it has some meaning for them or they really enjoy the design. Either way, it would serve as a more accurate expression of that player.
